So I'm a tr00 n00b here and was just wondering who here plays metal guitar and provide links to any clips you may have or just say what song/lick/solo you're most proud of playing accurately. I've been playing since I was 10 and I'm no virtuoso but it is my main gig in life. If you look up "shay clay" in youtube you can see me playing acoustic but they're not a very good representation because it's mostly focused on songwriting or improv, not metal. I'm probably most fond of being able to play Vito's solo from Wait, but I tend to enjoy rhythm more. Hero is Eddie, followed by Tipton-Downing and Rhoads.

I make up riffs and occasionally play Whitesnake, Van Halen, and Deep Purple. I write metal songs, basically classic/trash/death metal. I don't really have a good link to post here, especially since I primarily just do it for fun.

all guitars/lead vox, full length coming early next year. Rhythm guitar tone is not too hot on these ones, but that's all fixed now with the full record..anyway:
I actually sort of have a bad time playing other people's songs. I haven't had lessons, so when I was starting out, I would jam with a bunch of stuff on the stereo, but I always ended up making up stuff over it too. Cover stuff is kind of difficult to do for some reason.

Metallic, sounds a lot like me; I enjoy composing riffs more than lead, probably because I'm a bit of a Dave Mustaine where my soloing abilities don't match my rhythm. I have a long way to go with lead.
OCI I've been following your music on Fbook since I joined the boards and my God man what an amazing band you have. The tone is actually pretty slick for a demo so I can only imagine what you're going to do with it on the LP. Amazing music, and I'm not kissing ass here, this is really up my alley. Kickass name too.
I tend to get bored when playing covers unlike when I play my own stuff. I do have a "bucket list" of sorts: 1. solo from Wait (crossed that off), 2. Eruption (currently perfecting it), 3. Mr. Scary, 4. Erotomania, 5. The Sentinel (this is actually my warm up song I just want to get those solos down) and, of course, 6. Scarified. Other than that, I love just busting out riff after riff with starts and stops and sig changes much more.

Wow, that's really really humbling, I really appreciate that man. I will pass that on. Yes, I'm really excited about getting it out. It's all finished and the art and everything else there's just...stuff being done. Rhythm guitar is nice and big, and all Mesa Rectifier. Same engineer as the two song EP so mindblowing quality.
I'm trying to put some stuff together for a fusion-ish/avant-garde sort of group but it's been extremely challenging and I think I just need to buckle down more and somehow get non-egotistical jazz players all in the same place to jam some out.
We need some guitar porn in here too if you guys can post some gear.

I'm afraid I'm slim on gear, especially after the wife and kids; I do have a Jackson Soloist from '95 that got slammed around in my band back in the day. Now she's MIA, and I've been mourning her loss for some time. Yes, I was that attached. Ash body with routing grooves; I can't seem to find a similar body style anywhere. I used to play through a Marshal half-stack (couldn't afford a Mesa) and the Boss GT3. Nothing mind-blowing, never had the patience to save up.
Anyway, at the moment I practice on a Highway 1 Telecaster (took a note from John 5 I suppose) through a pocket pod and headphones. It's not what anyone would call pro gear, but it's a great way to play loud without waking the kids up.

I play guitar, sing, and write pretty much all the songs for TEMPLE OF BLOOD. I'm recording the rhythm guitars for our latest album now.
That's great that you can play "Wait". Vito is amazing. I know the riffs to that one but never learned the solo.
Tipton is a really underrated guitarist too. One of the most underrated in all of metal.

Again, music that's right up my alley. Are you playing lead too? Either way the rhythm parts are equally amazing. I went to Amazon to buy this but dammit my budget is broke for the rest of the month. I see you guys did a cover of Forbidden Evil, props for this and can't wait to hear it.
Wait isn't too hard if you phrase it right. There is one artificial harmonic that is a bitch to pull off--even Vito couldn't hit it every time on stage--but besides that it's just tap tap tap away. It's Keith Richards compared to Scarified.
Tipton just isn't talked enough in guitar circles; he really is the most versatile metal guitarist I've heard. I mean, having to build up from those simple pentatonic blues lines in the 70s to sweeps and skips in the 80s is quite a feat.
