Madam X were about the only 'Hair Metal' band that I liked and I already liked them by the time the singer went a bit flouncey.

Not quite what you mean by "outlaw stuff" but to me I assume you mean more of the honky-tonk variety of country? Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, early Travis Tritt, Kris Kristofferson and so on?
I do like Chris Ledoux quite a bit, but Garth is horrible.
He was definitely speaking of Waylon, Willie, and the Boys. The Highwaymen, David Allen Coe, 60s/70's Cash, etc. I also love the Outlaw stuff.
Oh, ok. I have never heard of the term "Outlaw" in reference to country music. I enjoy David Allan Coe quite a bit and I LOVE Johnny Cash, especially his early stuff, and Waylon is good, but I am not all that familiar with Willie. The Highwaymen is one that I am not familiar with either other than what's on Johnny Cash's greatest hits packages.

I dig The Allman Brothers despite hating southern rock with a fiery passion.
i dont care for country either but i enjoy johnny cash and Charlie Daniels a lot, although Daniels is more southern rock.

I am pretty sure there was never supposed to be any discussion about country music artists in this thread.

Man, I think everyone in the world likes 'Thunder Rolls', let's just be honest here, am I right?
Honestly, I hate it.
This^^^^^^ xTen Million. Garth Brooks is the Spawn of Satan and the root of everything foul and filthy.
OK, a little overboard - but he really was the single biggest reason so many great rock n roll bars turned into trendy hillbilly pubs in 1990 around here.
Now that I think about it, he did kind of lead the pack of "modern country", didn't he? I remember when he played 6 consecutive sold-out 20,000 seat shows in Philly. I was wondering where all these big hats and bigger belt-buckled folks were coming from. Ick.
I'd say it was kind of a team effort between Garth and Billy Ray ("Achy Breaky Heart") Cyrus. They both hit it big around the same time if memory serves.
The difference, of course, is that Garth hung around for a good long while, but Billy Ray quickly went off to One Hit Wonderville until his daughter became old enough to exploit on the Disney Channel.
As much as I don't like Billy Ray Cyrus (his mullet was awesome, though!), he did, to be fair, have many songs that were hits on the country charts. He just had the one song that was also a hit on the pop charts as well.
I read that he has a song called "I Want My Mullet Back". I'm sure I'd be best off not hearing the song, but the title sure is amusing.

Here's an interesting video about Cyrus (language)
(actually, if you're a music geek, that whole one hit wonderland series is pretty enjoyable, though it only covers pop songs)

Blackened Death Metal is usual a genre I find myself getting bored of rather quickly. A Hill to Die Upon grows stale in 1-2 listens, Behemoth in few more. But Sympathy always has me coming back, particularly to Arcane Path
Love A Hill to Die Upon!
Hmm...a kid I know loves this band but based on the stuff I know he likes...I wrote them off as emo. Maybe I should go back and check them out.
Agreed on Sympathy...Arcane Path just destroys.
