Sherlock Holmes - A Game Of Shadows
Not by choice, I was at a friend's house. The new TV show "Elementary" is much more entertaining and closer to the actual Holmes than this boneheaded movie franchise. Holmes the martial arts ass-kicker is just too much for me to tolerate.
Have you seen the BBC's recent series 'Sherlock'? It's outstanding.

I saw previews for Ripper Street on BBC America and it looks good as well

Today's entry in Toho's "December to Dismember":
Needless to say, I'm watching with subtitles instead of crappy dubbing.

Watched Hancock with the ol' lady. Amovie that started out great. A drunk super hero that didn't give a crap. Great premise, too bad they swithed gears.

Agreed. That film feels like two incomplete scripts that were stitched together Frankenstein-style. Very much like From Dusk Til Dawn.

Over the weekend:
Wanderlust - Pleasant enough. Not great, but a few laughs were had. The Decendants - Excellent. Nice & depressing. Perfect for the holidays.

Sunshine Cleaning (2009) - One of my favorite indie films of the past several years, Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are both phenomenal.

"Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" (2009)
Lex Luthor is elected President of the United States, and his first official act is to declare Superman and Batman as Public Enemies #1 and 2, with a billion dollar bounty on their heads. Much butt kicking ensues, as virtually every super villain in the DC Universe - and a lot of heroes too - try to collect the reward. Oh, and just to complicate things even further for Supes and Bats, there's a gigantic kryptonite meteor headed towards Earth big enough to wipe out the planet. More action packed animated fun from DC Comics!!

It's sad when the only interesting thing is the hairy catapillar that has made his home on Cody Rhodes upper lip. Though as usual, the in-ring action remains pretty good.

The 12/12/12 concert for Hurricane Sandy victims.
I didn't even know this was going on. I flipped over to Ion TV to see WWE Main Event and saw Roger Waters and band playing. Holy crap! Was his band awesome as they ripped through Us And Them, Money, Another Brick In The Wall and Comfortabely Numb. With Eddie Vedder on vocals on that last one.
An F'n excellent show! Now Bon Jovi is on and I'm less enthusiastic. But still to come are the Stones and The Who.

My vote for the best film of 2012 (that I've seen).
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Flat-out stunning film about a group of High School friends circa 1991, honest, funny and powerful. Highly recommended.

The Campaign: Mixed feelings on this one. The cliched BS about evil rich men is old and tiring but the satire on how low political adds can get is spot on. The movie had it's moments but I doubt I'd watch it again. If I want to see a Will Ferell movie, I'll stick to Anchorman or even Talledega Nights.

"Bad Santa" (2003)
Black-as-coal holiday comedy from Terry "Crumb" Zwigoff stars Billy Bob Thornton as a drunken, foul mouthed, perverted department store Santa and safecracker whose plans for a Christmas Eve mall robbery are complicated by his abusive midget partner, a strange kid who thinks he's the real Santa, and a girlfriend with a St. Nick fetish. Profane, tasteless, twisted, and totally wrong on so many levels... but still funny as hell.
