| Anyone pick this up? I did and was very excited! I must say it is awesome with one exception! Chickenfoot, Metallica, Iron Maiden and more were great! Then came Smoke on the Water by Flaming Lips! What a waste of a track on an almost perfect rock album tribute! Thoughts? | |

| Just got the cool Classic Rock version today in the mail. Haven't spun it yet, though. I assumed the Flaming Lips song would be the odd throwaway track. They're a totally weird band. | |

| I've only heard the Maiden song and I was unimpressed. I'll stick with the original Deep Purple versions.

| The Flaming Lips was stupid. I thought BLS's take on "Pictures of Home" was very good. I liked hearing Glenn Hughes sing "Maybe I'm a Leo" and "Highway Star" too. | |

| I like the little I've heard and will be picking it up at some point, probably sooner than later. And I thought from the very beginning that the inclusion of the Flaming Lips seemed to stick-out like a sore thumb on an otherwise solid line-up of artists. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. So is this one worth getting? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I haven't heard the Flaming Lips cover in question, but I think they are a great band, in general. Ever hear their Dark Side of the Moon tribute album, entitled "The Flaming Lips And Stardeath And White Dwarfs With Henry Rollins And Peaches Doing Dark Side Of The Moon". Fun Stuff. | |

What else is new? Anyone heard it that doesn't have a hard-on against these types of releases? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

The very, very little I've heard from the Flaming Lips is too weird for me. I don't get their appeal. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| It is on Spotify, you could listen to the entire album and then decide whether you want to buy it or not. With streaming services and youtube there is basically no reason to blind purchase anything.

Oh I know. I've already heard a few tracks here and there and was leaning towards picking it up anyway. I dig these sort of tribute albums in general. And aside from the Flaming Lips, I like all the artsits contributing. I can get my hands on a copy for cheap, but I was just throwing it out there to folks here before I dropped the coin. Ya dig? EDIT: I don't think I can use Spotify here at work. Unless I'm mistaken, you have to download their progam to gain access and I can't download .exe programs on my work PC without getting the IT department involved. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Yeah, Spotify is a program you'd have to install.
You might want to try MOG, they just run from a webpage and you don't have to install anything. They have a free trial I believe.

| I'm enjoying this tribute disc. With the exception of the Flaming Lips track. It's just too weird and sticks out like a sore thumb here. I played it through once, but from here on out, I'll be reaching for the skip button.
I'd recommend it if you like this sort of thing. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I grabbed it. I did edit a few things though. First I removed the Flaming Lips version of Smoke and replaced it with Santana's. Same with Chickenfoot's Highway Star (well relocated it to the end), replaced it with Glenn and Vai's. Not that I had anything against CF, i just wanted it to flow better with it being a live track and all.
I think the highlight of the whole album is Metallica's contribution though, amazing cover. | |
