I generally think, when thinking to myself, that obviously the best thrash came out in the 80s.
However, sitting here listening to Death Angel's Act III, I come to the realization that really 1991 was the best year. Off the top of my head, my favorite thrash records came out that year:
-said Death Angel record -Antrhax's Persistence -Heathen's Victims of Deception -Sepultura's Arise
Probably some others that I'm not thinking of.

Acutally, Persistence of Time was 1990. They released Attack of the Killer B's in 91

Oh yeah, that's right...I pushed it all a year ahead in my mind. Well, as far as killer thrash, Attack still counts, though Iit wouldn't really count as an album, per se. I'm gonna allow it, though.
And good on the Dark Angel one too. I prefer Leave Scars, but I dig all of them, so that one works.

For whatever reason I've never been much into Act III (or Death Angel in general), but I agree 1991 was one of the best years for thrash.
My favorite releases from that year being:
Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal Overkill - Horrorscope Anacrusis - Manic Impressions Anthrax - Killer B's (If it counts) Sepultura - Arise Tourniquet - Psychosurgery
Some other decent ones not mentioned I can think of are:
Vegeance - Destruction Comes Nuclear Assault - Out of Order

Name a year that HAS not been a good one for thrash? Ya, obviously, just gotta dig deep enough through some of those years to find the good stuff! I will always love the earliest stuff, as it is what formed me. But even in the 90's, Headhunter, Warpath, Repent, etc put out AMAZING albums [albeit, too over-polished for my taste, mostly].

Some Soviet steele for you:
The release dates may vary, because it was almost impossible to record anything in this country.

I like that SHAH compilation. I have it on vinyl and the songs were recorded between 85 and 91 and didnt appear on their debut BEWARE (1989) that i love too. de la banda. My fave songs on this compilation are the ones from 1986 because they show a more SPEED METAL sound of the band. For exemple KILLING MACHINE is just amazing same with DAMNED SINNER. From the 1991 songs my fave is AGE OF DARKNESS (a mix between METAL CHURCH, and american thrash metal. You also can find MAD FUTURE from 1987 that was already on their demo from the same year (ESCAPE FROM MIND). The four songs from 1985 are not very good honestly. Like i said before, the best songs are from 1986. Anyway, SHAH is still one of my fave band from Russia together with ARIA, MASTER, FIRST AID, HELLRAISER or KRUGER.

Death Angel's Act III album came out in 1990.
Coroner's Mental Vortex album is definitely Thrash imo.

Anthrax - Persistence Of Time was 1990. They released Attack Of The Killer B's in 1991.
I'm comfortable with Mental Vortex being labeled as thrash, it's as good of a category as any for a band that I don't think fits neatly into any categories. I think that's why I still like Coroner so much after all these years, they stood out from the pack and weren't afraid to experiment.

They were always different and outside of the box, but overall I think thrash is the genre they belonged to.
