- Nina Noir (pictured below) was selected by Geoff Tate to take part in the 2013 QUEENSRŸCHE tour after making a guest appearance on the band's new album, "Frequency Unknown", says in an online posting that she was "forced" by QUEENSRŸCHE's management "into [the] decision" to discontinue her involvement in the trek. She continues: "I hope them nothing but the best! They are fantastic musicians and ever better people. Nothing but love for them." She adds in a separate posting: "This was my decision and is in no way a reflection of the band members… I had such a good time on tour aside from some unnecessary stress." Nina sang a duet with Geoff on the group's epic song, "Suite Sister Mary".
She was dreadful in this part, but I wonder if there was more to this considering "management" is Tate's wife. Was she too hot? Haha.

GEOFF TATE: 'I Really Don't Know What The Signature Sound Of QUEENSRŸCHE Is' - May 16, 2013
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=190053
Deb Rao of HardrockHaven.net recently conducted an interview with QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate. A couple of excerpts from the chatfollow below.
HardrockHaven.net: We are all excited the 13th studio album by QUEENSRŸCHE entitled "Frequency Unknown" is released. It features a whole new lineup of QUEENSRŸCHE. What was your goal upon entering into the studio to record the album? Did you want to recapture the signature sound of QUEENSRŸCHE?
Geoff: I really don't know what the signature sound of QUEENSRŸCHE is. People have been asking that today. I don't know what that means. QUEENSRŸCHE, to me, has always been about making different records and trying different things. Trying to redefine ourselves with each record, really. We never really tried to play the same thing or make the same record each time. We tried to stretch out and try new things. I don't know if there is a signature QUEENSRŸCHE sound. The goal was to write songs and music to reflect the times that we live in. We wanted to write music that was timely and fit for the way things feel for me these days. It is art. It is reflective of emotions, feelings and thoughts in the now of what I am doing right now. It is kind of like an audio diary.

I have to agree with him, you really can't find two Queensryrche albums that follow that same formula. Even from the beginning, but to me what always stood out about the band, was Tate's voice. I have a hard time accepting both versions of Queensryche.

But aren't they a band and not just Geoff Tate? Queensryche does have a sound. Even when Promised Land came out, it was different but you could still hear that it was Queensryche. I hate when bands say they don't make the same album twice. The albums from Tribe and on sounded the same to me (crap) oh and why did they make a Operation Mindcrime 2?.... Ugh... this guy is such an idiot. I really hope one day we find out he has been taking heavy drugs and became an alcoholic cause this isn't the same guy I respected since I've been listening to him. _________________

Everything after DeGarmo left, except for OM II, pretty much follows the same formula.

Just like FU, all albums after Tribe were written by Jason Slater and Kelly Gray (with lyrics by The Geoff and an occasional writing credit to another member of Queensryche)

Everything after DeGarmo left, except for OM II, pretty much follows the same formula. They did tend to start running together and become slightly interchangeable, but there are still central vibes that vary. _________________ FINAL SIGN

They're just not as diverse album to album like they were up through Hear In The Now Frontier. Up to that point, each album had a distinct sound and style. After, not nearly as much.

You won't get the remix CD, though.

| Picked up F.U. at Walmart this morning. After three spins, all I can say is... ehhh. The first track "Cold" is actually quite good; however, the rest has been going in one ear and out the other, nothing has been 'sticking.' ... and the four re-recordings at the tail end pretty much define the term "unnecessary." So it's not the trainwreck I was dreading, but it didn't grab me by the nards and cause me to scream "I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE! ALL HAIL THE GEOFF" either. ...and yes, I've already taken a pic of my receipt so I can e-mail it to Cleopatra Records for the free remix version. Will be doing that tonight at home. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I was just looking for longer samples of the other Queensryche album on iTunes, and I noticed a Silent Lucidity: Greatest Hits EP, which are the re-recordings from this album. | |

I was going to suggest on ToddRyche's Facebook that if Tate insists on flogging those classic QR re-recordings, maybe the ToddRyche lineup should start playing songs from Frequency Unknown live. Just to f*ck with him. C'mon, tell me it wouldn't be funny as hell to see them bust into "Cold" at a gig somewhere. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

You won't get the remix CD, though. Your going to confuse him. First you tell him he spends too much money on cds and now you want him to pay full price for a cd just to get a remix cd. What should he really do? HAHA! _________________
