As a kid growing up in the 80's I enjoyed some of their tunes. Turn Me Loose, Hot Girls In Love, Take Me To The Top, etc. well it looks like they have jumped on the re-record bandwagon now. Samples below
I like a few of their songs. They were one of those movie soundtrack bands.

I was supposed to see them live, however, I was scheduled to be working for the weekend they were in town.

When we were kids my brother and I had Loverboy's first two albums (s/t and "Get Lucky") on cassette. They were always on MTV back then. Haven't heard or thought about 'em in years though.

I saw them 'back in the day' with Huey Lewis & the News as openers. Loverboy rocked the house back then while Huey Lewis was egged. Am curious to hear the newly recorded hits. I might pick this one up....

Huey Lewis has WAY more credibility than friggin' Loverboy.
I saw these guys once when I was 12, that was just about the perfect age group for Loverboy.

I'm pretty hit or miss with Loverboy, leaning on the miss side of things. Regarding Huey Lewis & the News, I concur regarding the credibility and their ability as musicians. If people aren't familiar with Huey's early sound, they should check out their first two albums, which are less poppy sounding (less slick) and slightly more guitar driven. I like the poppy sound as well, but I certainly can appreciate the pre-MTV sound.
My first concert was Loverboy with Zebra opening. Good show
I always thought they were decent enough, nothing spectacular, nothing terrible.

It's a risky procedure...

Have a greatest hits around somewhere, Take Me To The Top is actually an interesting tune, darker in sound.

I had all their albums back in the day but I find they haven't aged very well. The songs are strong but there's too much emphasis on keys IMO which sort of gives away the decade in which the music was recorded.

The guitar tone for "Turn Me Loose" was killer and the tune had a nice groove. I didn't care for much else by them. That song was a bit different than the other songs they are known for. IMHO

I've got a greatest hits comp of theirs. They are one of those bands that are fun to hear when they come up on shuffle mode, but I'm not sure about listening to a whole album. Great 80s rock, though!

Yeah Turn Me Loose has a great guitar tone. I still have a cassette from way back whn I taped off the radio and he dj says "here's a new one from Loverboy" and he played "When It's Over".
By the way Bob Rock is producing the new tunes, don't know about the retreads.

Did Loverboy and Styxx play this year's fair circuit? (Along with their own tribute bands)

Other than the radio hits I have never even given these guys the time of day. Probably cuz A friend of mine saw them back in the day opening for QR and he said that Loverboy blew QR off the stage.
