Subject: Do you like watching Heist Films? Wed Jul 25, 2012 12:20 am
I just watched two Denzel Washington starers last night on BluRay, "The Inside Man" and "Pelham 1 2 3", boy I was glued on my couch for almost 4 hours I didn't even notice it would fly so quick!
Can anybody recommend some really good Heist films that are on par with those two films that I mentioned?

Start with watching the FAR superior original version of "The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three" from 1974 starring Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau, the remake was a pale shadow compared to the original.
I would recommend "The Bank Job" starring Jason Statham from a few years back, that's a nicely done realistic heist film.
My favorite heist film of all-time is "The Killing" directed by Stanley Kubrick.

I have seen the original a few years back but I'm not into retro, any film that is, up to 1985
Thanks for the "TBJ" anyways, I'll definitely look it up

This one's GOOOOOD, Matt Dillon is a fantastic comedian and I literally applauded him at the end of the film for his cleverly-portrayed villainy effort, superbly done!

Both versions of the Italian Job and Gone in 60 seconds are fantastic. The original Oceans 11, Layer Cake, Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels... Okay, so pretty much any Guy Ritchie flick.

I'll second The Bank Job, Ocean's 11, Lock, Stock...
I'd also add The Usual Suspects and Reservoir Dogs, though both films are more about the characters than the heist itself.

I saw "Armored" a few months back, very cool flick.
A similar "urban" heist film that you might like is "Trespass" (1992) with Bill Paxton, William H. Macy, Ice-T and Ice Cube.
