A little late putting this one together but I'm still catching up on films from last year. I'll start with a list of my personal favorites from 2013 and then will later post the entire list of everything I saw and how I rate them.

1. American Hustle (directed by David O. Russell)
2. Much Ado About Nothing (directed by Joss Whedon)
3. Short Term 12 (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton)
4. The Spectacular Now (directed by James Ponsoldt)
5. Gravity (directed by Alfonso Cuaron)
6. The Wolf Of Wall Street (directed by Martin Scorsese)
7. The Bling Ring (directed by Sofia Coppola)
8. Her (directed by Spike Jonze)
9. The World's End (directed by Edgar Wright)
10. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (directed by Francis Lawrence)

Can't disagree with American Hustle at number one. Nebraska would share that top spot for me.

Catching Fire is the only one I have seen so far on your list. I'll catch Gravity, Hustle, Much Ado, Wolf on Blu-Ray one of these days.... maybe some of the other ones too.

I think everyone should see Short Term 12 and The Spectacular Now, both stunning independent productions.

A damn good movie, my list is more "favorite" than "best", I really enjoyed Nebraska and it would make my top 20.

Even though I've seen 40+ movies from 2013, I still haven't seen the majority of the movies up for Academy Awards, so there could be significant changes on the horizon, regarding my list.

2. The Spectacular Now (Directed by James Ponsoldt)
3. Kings of Summer (Directed by Jordan Vogt-Robers)
4. Mud (Directed by Jeff Nichols)
5. Europa Report (Directed by Sebastian Cordero)
6. Disconnect (Directed by Henry Alex Rubin)
7. This Is the End (Directed by Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg)
8. Drinking Buddies (Directed by Joe Swanberg)
9. Before Midnight (Directed by Richard Linklater)

The World's End
Star Trek - Into Darkness
Elysium
Kick Ass 2

They range from great to okay but I honestly can't be bothered grading each one.
