My disliking Bon Jovi has a lot to do with growing up a metalhead in NJ the 80's. His music was everywhere back then and people were calling the 'the greatest heavy metal band ever'. I detested his poser image/music. I can't seem to get past that bad attitude I had about Bon Jovi from back then.

At least you got out of New Jersey!! I'm still here and to this day it seems like it's required by law for rock fans in this state to kiss Bon Jovi's and Bruce Springsteen's a$$es.

Bon Jovi is, was, and always shall be ... THE ENEMY!!! NLTM June '12 Update - Page 3 308838

Which is funny because that is exactly the sentiment I've always held to. It must be a New Jersey thing. Been living in NM since 1989. I still say "dawg" instead of "dog", I still say "tret'n" instead of "Trenton" and I still don't like Bon Jovi.

Dunno 'bout you Ult, but when I think of metal bands representin' New Jersey, I think of Twisted Sister and Overkill, not Ron Zoni. Very Happy

What's wrong with Springsteen?

I got nothin' against the guy, I'm just tired of having his music jammed down my throat by local rock radio after all these years.

They made their name in the New York bar/club scene, but according to the liner notes in the first "Club Daze" CD, Twisted Sister was founded in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, in 1972.

Born in Jersey. Big on the NY club scene. Also big in the NJ club scene. I was from Jersey and heavily into them early on even though I wasn't old enough to get into the clubs.

Ult, I'm surprised that you didn't like Izzy's first album. It's pretty good straight forward rock that hits the spot.

I'll give it a fresh spin. It's been a while.

Ult, is there any other hip-hop you like other than Run-DMC? You mentioned you owned more hip-hop before on their page, any albums you can remember?
Also, got any old-school death metal?

Did you buy it when it came out????
I only grabbed it recently and found it quite enjoyable, but I could see if it was bought new how one might have expected something similar to GNR and be disappointed.

Sure, I use to get into some rap before it became all this gangsta stuff. Mantronix, S.F.C., Dynamic Twins, Boogie Down Productions/KRS-One, Schoolly-D, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, DeLaSoul, Eric B and Rakim, 12th Tribe, Micheal Peace, Tone Lōc...some names I remember liking. I don't own much by any of them any longer except for Run DMC, S.F.C. and one Dynamic Twins CD. I rarely listen to any rap any more.

Old school death metal? Like Death? In the 90's I was heavily into death metal for a time, but got bored with it after a while. I still like some of the more simplistic death metal stuff. Six Feet Under is great. Bolt Thrower, Obituary, early Amorphis, Carcass, Mortification, Gorefest, Metanoia, Entombed, Napalm Death, Cynic, Morbid Angel, etc...are some bands I was into. I sold off some of my death metal CDs in the late 90's but still have a lot of those bands on my site. I still listen to a lot of those bands fairly regularly, especially Death and Morty. I've not really given much listen to any newer death metal bands over the years.

Yes, I got it when it was fairly new.

Well, I know of those bands on your site...I was asking if you've got any others, seeing some notable bands, such as Deicide, Autopsy or Morbid Angel, aren't on your site.

Ahhh gotcha. Sorry, misunderstood the question. No, I don't have any death metal CDs to review currently, though I'm anxious to get the new Six Feet Under. I should get some Autopsy one of these days. I sort of miss my Obituary Cds as well.
