Doxology and Tears to Dust were great albums (let's not mention the third! ), and this one sounds great to me.

I remember hearing the third, ... and thinking it wasn't even metal. Still have Doxology and Tears to Dust.

What was the third album? I don't have it, but I'd like to at least know what it's called.

The third disc was an ep titled Not The Criminals. I heard it in a bookstore, years ago. From memory, It sounded like mainstream rock - a huge departure from the first 2 releases.
Here's the artwork for that ep:

Jeff Waters helped them in the studio a while back. I heard he was supposed to co-produce the album.

Bump for me to say this is a stellar album. It's labeled progressive thrash but i say it's just good, crushing music. I never heart their earlier albums so I was wondering how this compares to the first two.

This stuff sounds as good as the Doxology material.Cant wait to get my copy!
Dark Horseman-Doxology had more thrash elements than Tears to Dust, which was more progressive and melodic.

That's a good simple description. The first two albums are great, but in different ways. I've had this on order for a few weeks now -just waiting for delivery!

Gotta bump this again. Finally got the album from another seller, and it's a really consistent album. It's progressive, but not in an overtly Dream Theater-ish way -more subtle nuances in the songs rather than flashy stuff. The songs are heavy and melodic, mixing some modern sounds into some classic 80s thrash tones. There's an obvious Megadeth influence in the lead work and Annihilator in the riffing -you can see why Jeff Waters was involved. Anyway, this is an excellent comeback for the band, and a frequent player for me.

Pleasantly surprised by the title track. Might have to check into it a bit more. I really like Doxology, but Tears to Dust did little for me.

I am having a really hard time getting in to Anhedonia. For some reason it is just not clicking with me at all. I can say that it is not a bad album and the musicianship is quite good, it is just not resonating with me. Every listen I get about halfway through the album and then I switch to something else. I have tried listening to the tracks in order and on shuffle but... nothing so far.

I never did either, but when I read an interview that said they were going for a Goo Goo Dolls sound, that was reason enough for me to not check it out. Haha!
