| We've got some very intelligent and thoughtful people in this forum. And I thought, why not list some do's and don'ts or any helpful advice for Vick....in case he happens to sign in here and join. I think he secretly might be a metal head....IT COULD HAPPEN?!?! Here's my two cents for you Mike: 1. DON'T drop your soap in the showers....hell, don't drop anything anywhere that needs picking up. 2. Next time you need more pocket change, because $20 gazillion a year isn't quite enough....maybe try something like, I don't know, high interest CD's/bonds, a savings acct, car dealerships....etc. Even Wall Street if you’re feeling really dangerous or risky. 3. Stop listening to Rap, your about to begin "living the life" that your homies so often sing about and glamorize. But I'm sure it’s as cool and fun as they say. I'm sure it’s going to be a real mind blowing experience (sorry, “blowing”, that was cold. A real hard road to ho….oops, that’s no good either)…. P.S. This thread is for fun, cuz we are all sick and twisted individuals. I'm not looking for everybodies opinions on the matter!

Bingo. He will serve MAYBE a year, but absolutely no more than that. The NFL will suspend him for 2 years, and that will probably run concurrent to his sentence, so he'll be back in football by 2009. He deserves the max because of the gambling charges, the dog fighting, and for killing dogs with his own hands. He deserves to be kicked out of football for lying to the league and his team, gambling, flipping off fans (that were upset with HIS crap play), and killing dogs and making them fight. He won't get either one. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

From what I saw on the news this morning before work, he's seriously screwed!!! Not only does the D.A. want to make an example of him, but the Commisioner, Roger Goodell, a former attorney, is on the warpath; especially after the Adam "Pac Man" Jones fiasco. He copped a plea for a reason; to serve a shorter sentence of 3-5 years rather than have the authorities charge him with more serious allegations that carry a heavier sentence of 5-10 years.

I honestly doubt that he did for the money since he makes over 10 million a year like Favre, Brady, McNabb, and Peyton. I think it was the thrill of it all. Illegal dog fighting is huge in the South. That's what I have been told. Peace.

Yeah, I’m not sure what "substantial" means?!?!? If he gets off super easy, he'll be looking at 12-15 months! To me, that’s substantial. He's being convicted for A. Gambling and going over state lines to gamble/set up. And B, for Dog Fighting, which is a Federal Offense. The cruelty and killings, while sick and disgusting, only humiliate his reputation and probably eliminate his career. IMO.

| Why even bother? I personally think the guy should serve a year in jail and be forced to make a $10,000,000 donation to the ASPCA. This guy, if it's true what he did, is a disgusting human being, but is it not human nature to not care for animals? I could never hurt a dog or go hunting, but I'm an avid fisherman. And while I don't kill fish, I have unintentionally done so many times. And I don't care. I've been fishing since I was a kid. I don't associate emotional guilt with fishing, but when I hit a possum a few months ago I turned around to see if it could be saved. It was on the ground, still alive, but utterly squashed. It died right in front of me, around 11:20pm at night. I felt terrible, and when I drive by the spot I often think about it, and I still feel bad. But I don't care that I hooked fish in the face last week.
It's hypocritical, I realize this, but it's just the way it is. You may argue a dog is different from a fish, but is it? It's life, plain and simple. If Vick was raised in the ghetto, in down-trodden black communities, are you surprised about this? That is a part of the culture there. If this is something he saw since he was a child, do you honestly still question this? He probably views a dog like you or I view a steak. To Vick, there's no "life" connected to it.
Now, torturing the dogs is different, of course, and I have zero sympathy for the guy. I'm just sick of everyone lashing out at him like he's Satan in a football uniform. Dog fighting is a part of AMERICAN culture, all colors. Do you have any idea how many people get busted for this and serve NO TIME? It happens all the time. What he did was terrible, but next time you take a bite of that chicken breast or steak, ask yourself if that animal was tortured to death. The answer is yes, of course. |

Talk about extreme! So, is this a bad time to tell you guys about the deer I shot last season? And BTW, I don't care how the cow was killed, Ribeye is the best freakin' thing I've ever put in my mouth.....er, the only thing!!!

| Oh, don't read that wrong. I really have no concern over Michael Vick. I simply think it's hypocritical for people to slam him like he's so evil. He's high-profile. Nothing more. Is Lindsey Lohan the only young woman with drug/alcohol issues? No way! Yet people are obsessed with condemning her. Many people likely do this while their own daughter is hooked on crack and they have no idea. Dog fighting happens everywhere, every day. People walk away with slaps on the wrist everywhere, every day. Michael Vick should not be the one to pay the price for something that is happening in everyone's backyard. I hate media crucifictions. And yes, ribeye is awesome! Haha. |

| While I am certainly not condoning anything Vick has done nor am I condemning him because I am not his final judge and jury, I just can't stand the current practice in this country to villify whoever the new bad guy or girl is at the moment. It seems like somewhat does something wrong, and while there is no debating that it is wrong, they are made out to be, as eyesore said, the new satan, and can be blamed for everything and anything under the sun. I blame the media for this with their sensationalism of celebrities and dui's and assorted misdemeanors and the general practice of yellow journalism. I find the constant television coverage of current events to be really too much. It seems to me that they stretch stories on for months and months that really don't deserve much more than a 10 minute expose. Alright, I'm steppin off the soapbox and going to bed. Peace. | |

| i don't care whether or not someone is famous. my stance has always been, you commit a crime, you get punished. fishing is legal, running over a possum was an accident, killing of animals for consuption is justified, dog fighting is illegal. if you wish to fight dogs, fight to change the law first. and Lindsey Lohan is just a bad actress. _________________ | |

| I hope no one picks him up when he becomes eligible. It takes a serious psychotic mind to do the things he did. He is truly a bad human being and does not deserve to make millions no matter what he does to atone for his "mistakes" (If ya ask me, a mistake is something that occurs when you don't know that the act is wrong. A "decision" is something you make when you know what you are doing). |

| Easy. Put two big Marshall P.A. in Vick's cell, and bring in Davies, Grange, St. Holmes, and Nugent once a day to serenade him...."Dog, Dog". Ted's no animal rights guy, but he does love hounds; he'd do it. Expensive, yes. Pay for it out of Vick's football winnings.
p.s.- If he gets out of line, we add Meat Loaf.

| He can kiss all of his endorsement deals goodbye, that's for sure. Sponsors won't touch him now. Even if he gets off on the federal charges and gets back into football, he's gonna have groups like PETA hounding him for the rest of his life. | |

| The paper I read today sez that as far as the NFL's "Code Of Personal Conduct" for its players is concerned, the gambling allegations alone are enough for them to ban him from ever coming back to the sport, never mind the dog fighting stuff. So if Vick thinks copping a guilty plea will allow him to do a little time and then go skipping back to the NFL like nothin ever happened, he may have another thing comin' | |

Amazing.... but what if you meant to kill someone, but mistakenly killed the wrong person? that would be both a serious crime and a mistake. _________________
