| I picked up a box of 21 heavy metal compilation records. Some I've heard of, others are totally obscure, and at least a few I know to be somewhat rare. Please, 40-something HoM veterans, shower me with your infinite knowledge of these records and let me know what I have on my hands here!
NOTE: I entered everything into a spreadsheet to keep track of my collection. Pardon the inconvenient format.
Listed is the album title, year of release, and record label. All albums are in Very Good to Mint condition.
Castle Donnington - Monsters of Rock 1980 Polydor New Electric Warriors 1980 Logo Brute Force 1980 MCA Hard Rock Live 1982 Polydor One Take No Dubs - Live in the Studio 1982 Neat U.S. Metal 1981 Shrapnel Metal Warriors 1983 Ebony Metal for Muthas 1980 EMI Electrola U.S. Metal Vol III 1983 Shrapnel U.S. Metal Vol II 1982 Shrapnel Metal Maniaxe 1982 Ebony Metal Clogs 1982 Rave-On Metal Massacre II 1982 Metal Blade Metal Massacre 1982 Metalworks (revised Metallica spelling) Metal Massacre 1982 Metal Blade (this one has the "Mettallica" spelling) The Friday Rock Show 1981 BBC Records Heavy Metal Heroes 1981 Heavy Metal Records Heavy Metal Heroes Vol II 1982 Heavy Metal Records Lead Weight 1981 Neat Roxcalibur 1982 Guardian Records 'N' Tapes Metal Explosion 1980 BBC Records

| I have the first one on your list and many of the others are well known and have been reissued on CD.
New Electric Warriors - Issued on CD Metal For Muthas - CD Issue Metal Massacre - all of these are on CD Heavy Metal Heroes I +II - CD issue Roxcalibur - CD issue Lead Weight - CD Issue
That Castle Donington is not that rare but it's a cool comp of the first Monsters Of Rock show. I have no idea how much most of these are worth but most of these are NWOBHM comps and could fetch some good prices.
Also, those US Metal comps are quite nice.

- Metal Massacre 1982 Metal Blade (this one has the "Mettallica" spelling)
This one is probably worth some coin. I read a book about Metallica called "Enter Night" not long ago where they mention this misprint. It sez when the band were given their copies of the album, Lars was on the phone with Brian Slagel at Metal Blade within 30 seconds, ripping him a new ass about it I am not sure how many copies were in that original pressing, but it couldn't have been more than a couple of thousand. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

The one with the Metallica misprint does. That's worth a nice chunk of change.

| I don't know the value of the ones you posted, that always depended on what somebody is willing to pay.
I have the Castle Donningtom, U.S Metal, Metal Masacre, Metal For Muthas, and perhaps a couple more ?
Good score _________________

| I only have the Metal Maniaxe one. It's actually my avatar picture. Given the cover I was surprised at how much softer melodic stuff was on there. Still a fun album. Last I checked it listed for about 40.00 on amazon (I got it for a quarter at goodwill). In fact I think most of those are valued well above the 30.00 mark. The Metal Massacre with the misspelling is the real find. Keep that safe and in good condition because that one would sell for big.
Where did you find all these albums? And what did you pay?

| Andy, I can check my Goldmine Heavy Metal Price Guide today after work and give you some prices. The book is a couple of years old so the prices will be low but at least that will give you a floor for what these are worth. | |

Where did you find all these albums? And what did you pay? When I found that album in the box I thought it looked familiar, thanks to obscene amount of time I spend on this forum. It was indeed due to your avatar! I got these albums (and 300 other LPs, EPs, and singles that I'll post later!) for free from a Craigslist listing called "300+ heavy metal albums". I picked them up from a woman who lived in the next town over. She said the collection belonged to her brother who passed away last year and that she didn't want to sell them. She was prepared to take them to the thrift store the next day if no one answered the post. I consider myself incredibly lucky. The man, whoever he was, had a veritable goldmine of a collection. What is absolutely insane is that every single album is in near mint condition. 90% of them are still in plastic, with price tags and all, with just a slit to take the record out. I will start a new thread with a link to my "blog" that has a list of the other stuff.
