Sepultura, Death Angel, Havok - 4/15/12

Just wanted to write a quick thing about this show in case anyone else was thinking of catching it:

Venue was packed tight most of the night. I got worried when I first showed up and saw a huge line for the Escape the Fate show in the other room of the same venue, but by the time the doors opened there were plenty of people there for the REAL show.

Havok were outstanding, I've seen Toxic Holocaust, Vektor, and Warbringer, but these guys are easily the best live new thrash act.

Krisium were good from what I saw, more in the death metal territory and I missed most of their set trying to buy a Sepultura shirt.

Death Angel really surprised me, I've never been able to get into them on cd, but live I was blown away! Couldn't help but jump in the pit for most of their set. Would gladly see them again!

Finally Sepultura came on after what seemed like more than a half hour to set up. I suppose it's because they had just gotten in from Seattle and thus had no time to do a soundcheck before the show. They were the best of the night in my opinion. A nice balance of their well known songs from earlier albums and my favorites from Kairos: the title track, Dialog, and Mask! I think Derrick Green did a great job on the earlier stuff and most people after the show seemed to agree. I was right up front during their set, and I'll say that the only band I've ever seen people get as into was Exodus.

Overall I'd say this was the best show I've seen in quite some time and if you're a fan of any of these bands you should try making it to one of the dates!

Nice review!! I got to see Sepultura last year and their set was comprised of mostly older material. Derrick Green did a great job singing it. If the tour you just got to see was coming to my area I'd easily check it out.
