Here's the latest Pantera video. The track is from 1992 and will appear on the Vulgar Display of Power 20th Anniversary Edition. It's also available for download today on iTunes and Amazon.
Sounds good to me!

Far Beyond Driven should've sounded like this, I hope there's more in the vaults...I was NEVER a fan of the post-Vulgar sound, the consequences were terrible, it spawned hundreds of shytty bands like Lambchops Of God

Not bad, but I'm certainly not gonna fork out the cash for the anniversay album for that one track.
And yea, Elmo's got a point there.

It's a solid track, but not as good as what's on Vulgar. Plus the band clearly used bits of the song in other songs. Good tune, though. It is kind of cool to hear another song with that distinct sound.
I really think it's time Vinnie re-releases the first four albums.

I'd be on board for that. Maybe a nice box-set with all 4 discs and a dvd of some old footage.

Straight from the mouth of Terry Glaze is that he (Terry) wants an even piece of the pie for any future reissue(s) of the first three and Vinnie doesn't wanna go for that.

i would be on board for that. They would make some money.

You always says stuff like this. How is it that you know so many of these musicians? You're never very specific.

The song itself is decent enough but not worth me buying the release just for that song.
As for the pre-Cowboys stuff being released, I'd love to see that. Once again,if James is right, egos get in the way of cool stuff being re-issued (see Jag Panzer).

And he (Terry) should get an even slice, he was a participant and Vinnie's got plenty of cash he can let TG have a slice. Come on Vinnie whats the big deal?
I would buy the discs if they were released!

Agreed. Terry should get a fair shake.
And really, let's be honest. In this day and age, how many would they really sell? Give Terry a cut of the profits and he can expect a royalty check for $50.

I was very specific as to what Terry said.
I played in just about every club circuit there is across the country and met alot of musicians. Some good, some bad, some famous and some that should of been. AND..............some I still keep in touch with. While others perhaps I wished I would have. Perhaps, I am non-specific cause it is my personal business or I don't wanna seem like I am bragging cause I know people who happen to play in a band. They are my friends and often you gotta respect their privacy. Since you asked and I feel it isn't that big of a deal to tell you.....here it goes.
I lived in Arlington, Tx during the mid 1980's, which is where Pantera is from. I played at the same clubs they did and becme very good friend with them. A few years ago, I saw a videoclip on YouTube of Terry and Rex jammin on an old Pantera song with some other dudes. Through a phone conversation, I inquired about the old Metal Magic records releases and that is what I was told.
I lived in Sacramento, Calif for almost 20 years untill I moved here to Montana, a year and a half ago. I was in a local music store buying something for my drums and met two brothers there. One played guitar, the other bass. I ended up jammin with them for quite awhile before I ever knew that one of them was Tommy Mc Clendon form UFO. Through him is how I met Frankie and Brian from Tesla. My cousin is one of Jeff Kieth's ex wives and we rode dirt bikes all over the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Range.
I grew up in the San Bernardino/Riverside area of So. Calif and returned there on a permanent basis in the late 1980's after the band I was in since 1979 folded up due to addictions and car accidents. I became a Christian. Some old friends from my youth had also done likewise. I played in a few Chrisitan bands. Either before they did an album or just before they broke up. Just about every band that was on the Regency or Intense labels were involved with the Sanctuary Chrurch (as was I) in some manner or another and played alot of places together.
My life isn't any more special than anothers and I think it's an accomplishment to have lifelong friends that you talk to. Some way more than others. but still enough to wanna just say " hey man, ho is it going". Trust me, I do this with way more old friends who are mucisians that are NOT famous.

That's quite an interesting life you have there. Cool stuff !
It's a solid track, but not as good as what's on Vulgar. Plus the band clearly used bits of the song in other songs. Good tune, though. It is kind of cool to hear another song with that distinct sound.
Pretty much agree with this. It's a decent enough track, but it's pretty obvious why it didn't make the album's cut in the end. Far more interesting was the track dug up for the Cowboys re-release, 'The Will To Survive'. It sort of acts as the perfect inbetween of Pantera's early stuff and Cowboys (and again features riffs that would get reused later on, such as the breakdown riff of 'This Love').
And yeah, it's a shame that the early Pantera stuff never got re-issued. I doubt it'd sell a huge amount, but it'd be nice to be able to get a hold of an official release.
IMHO, the time to have released the pre Cowboys albums has already passed on by. The "demand" if that is even the correct term to apply was at it's peak right after Darrell Abbott was murdered. I have all 4 on vinyl. Vinnie has skills with the knobs and access to the master tapes. Perhaps an overhaul would entice some interest. The clock is ticking and the dollar signs are fading fast.

I disagree. I think it would have been detrimental to their popularity back at their height, simply because the albums are so different. It's bad enough so many people claimed they were sellouts who went from glam to an Exodus rip-off band. Had those album been readily available, they'd have been trashed in the press and by fans.
Now, however, the band it no more; their legacy is secure. Time to release them, I say.
