| EXODUS rip-off band? That is the first I have heard of that. I doubt any of them besides Phil even regularly listened to EXODUS.
This new song is passable but not exceptionable. What were the riffs in this song used for? I recognize parts of it but don't remember what song this later became.
"Power Metal" could definitely use a remaster, a new cover, and an awesome re-release. It's a very strong album that deserves a wider audience and appreciation.

Sorry, I meant Exhorder. - Quote :

The groovy verse riff was used as the mid-section of "Use My Third Arm," as well as some of the lyrics and the melody. The chorus also kind of reminds me of something else they've done. - Quote :

That's definitely the strongest of the first four, but there are too many great songs on the other three to ignore them.

I agree with that assessment. I bought Cowboys From Hell when it was first released and as far as I knew it was a debut album, there was no discussion of their earlier releases at the time. Atlantic wouldn't want to confuse the potential fan base, especially since the style had changed so much. It wasn't until later that I found out they had already released several albums. |

| The track doesn't sound too Vulgar-ish, more like a lost track to Far Beyond Driven...I suspect PISS was one of the the very first songs written for 'Far Beyond'...Vinnie only claimed it was from Vulgar just for the heck of it | |

No way. It definitely sounds like a track written during the Vulgar sessions, even if a part was used on Far Beyond Driven.

- IMHO, the time to have released the pre Cowboys albums has already passed on by. The "demand" if that is even the correct term to apply was at it's peak right after Darrell Abbott was murdered. I have all 4 on vinyl. Vinnie has skills with the knobs and access to the master tapes. Perhaps an overhaul would entice some interest. The clock is ticking and the dollar signs are fading fast.
I disagree. I think it would have been detrimental to their popularity back at their height, simply because the albums are so different. It's bad enough so many people claimed they were sellouts who went from glam to an Exodus rip-off band. Had those album been readily available, they'd have been trashed in the press and by fans.
Now, however, the band it no more; their legacy is secure. Time to release them, I say.
As for my previous question, I was curious. I believe you misunderstood me. I said the best time would of been right after Darrell Abbott was murdered. Not during the height of their popularity. Of course, this is just an opininion based on marketing and I feel it would of been exploitive. Still. it may had been better than the present for many reasons. Just imagine, how well a Randy Rhoads concert video would of sold just after his passing. He still has a legacy, but the numbers just are not there anymore. _________________
