Death and Crazy Guy may mock me, but I tend to agree with this. Ride The Lightening is brilliant but MOP always seemed kind of antiseptic. It's good and has its moments....but to me MOP is the Metallica version of SSOASS from Iron Maiden. Just too......clean? Too something.....(but still good....just overhyped)

Until that album came out, I was listening to my dad's oldies and Huey Lewis. Songs like "It's So Easy", "Mr. Brownstone" and "Out Ta Get Me" were filled with a venomous rage that I had never heard before in my life. And I liked it. So yea, it's easy to goof on Axl nowadays and the joke that Guns N' Roses has become, but I'm eternally grateful for them and that album for bringing me down to their level and keeping me there.

Getting back to a RELAVENT subject, much as I admire ya bro, I could not disagree more. MOP, imo, is the most important "hard" album ever recorded. And my personal fav album of all time - and that includes the entire Saxon catalog. If Master of Puppets and Appetite for Revulsion got in a fight, MOP would have that weak-ass piece of monkey dung incinerated within a nano-second. Also, I see MOP as a tribute to the legacy of a very cool, kind, and FULL-ON METAL BROTHER. Cliff should come back, rip off Axl's kilt, and really show the world what weiner-less jackass he is! oh yeah - I think Slash is pretty cool, although I have not heard any of his post-GNR stuff. Unique technique, great look, could-care-less attitude. I like that. |

Well, I'm not saying it isn't important, because it definately was, hell it burst onto the scene like an atom bomb. Just, in reference to over hyped albums I always felt that was one, after awhile anyway, I definately was rocking it like crazy back then. Just baffeled me how it managed to get heaviest of all time more than once, as I thought metallica had better work out there. Then again, just an opinion. Even though years later, I'm still torn to pick a favorite album of all time. Appetite nowhere near comes close to the same league either. Didn't mean it as a comparison, and when it comes to Axl, I can't stand that guy, or the majority of GNR's work for that matter. | |

| Just saw this on Blabbermouth and wondered if we should all start holding our breath while we await its release? Report: GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy' Album 'Was Finished Before Christmas' - Jan. 22, 2008 UK's Classic Rock recently tracked down Beta Lebeis, personal manager of Axl Rose, who confirmed to the magazine that GUNS N' ROSES' "Chinese Democracy" album "was finished before Christmas." She added: "Everybody knows that." Lebeis said Axl is currently "in negotiations" with unspecified parties to arrange to album's on-sale date. However, Classic Rock believes that "Chinese Democracy" may not be "released" in the traditional sense — at least not initially. The magazine suspects that GN'R may follow the RADIOHEAD route of pay-as-you-like downloads. But the publications stresses that this has not been confirmed. Another source close to the GN'R camp also suggested that "Chinese Democracy" may gain a conventional release in late summer, with a view to it becoming "a big Christmas album." _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I'd say I prefer Appetite over Puppets. Puppets is good, but it's not even my favourite Metallica album - Ride the Lightning is. _________________ | |

| i always think the guitar on appetite sounded sloppy but the rhythm section was second too none whereas the guitar is tight as anything i cant write here on MOP and while you can barely hear the bass guitar lars druming is tight and always interesting Imo mop is more diverse and original than AFD although one must take into account the different genres IMO | |
