I too don't like Criss' solo album. I wanted an album full of "Hooligan" jams. I got an album with none.

I honestly haven't heard it in 20 years at least, but I do remember borrowing it from a friend when I was in college, listening to about half of it, and then returning it to him with a physical shudder than I have never experienced again. It was just....gack. I thought someone had pulled a prank on me and given me a tape of random stuff from the oldies radio station.
I've often said that despite my KISS fanboy status, there are two pieces of the KISS discography that I will never allow in my house: Crazy Nights and the Peter Criss solo album.

I'm not a KISS fan boy, but I received all four solo albums through B.M.G. back in the day (probably mid 90's), during my annual "Let's sign up for eleven new C.D's again." I knew that I loved the Ace solo album, but I didn't remember much of any of the other three. Instinctively, I knew that Peter's would be crap, so I listened to it last. Even with the bar set very low, it came in way below the bar. I actually pulled the album out for the first time about three to four years ago, to see if I actually wanted to add songs into my Itunes library. Needless to say that didn't happen. I once again pulled this album out four days ago to see if I've wavered at all on my previous thoughts; I haven't. I don't really care that Peter did an album, that is by all accounts Adult Contemporary, as I like my Barry Manilow, Bread, James Taylor, Carole King, etc... They just do a much better job at this then that of Peter Criss.

Crazy Nights has it moments. How can you not love the title track, man? That and "Reason to Live" are probably the only two songs I like on it. But I like them a lot.
I feel like I only really like about 10 - 15 or so songs from Creatures, Lick it Up, Asylum, Crazy Nights and Hot in the Shade. I need to just make myself an excellent 80s KISS playlist so I don't have to mess with the rest of the stuff on the albums.

Oh Lord, I flippin HATE that album...especially the two songs you mentioned! "Reason to Live" gives me hives. Haha. It's just way too polished, too slick, too much cheez. That goes for "Hot in the Shade" too. (But I still allow that one in my house because of "Hide Your Heart" and "Rise To It" ... even tho the rest is yack...)

I played the heck out of Crazy Nights back in the day on my walkman! My favorite songs were "I'll Fight Hell to Hold You," "Hell Or High Water," "No, No, No."
Creatures Of The Night is excellent! I like 8 of the 9 tracks ("Killer" is the weakest, IMO), but 5 are all time faves for me: the title track, "Saint And Sinner," "Keep Me Comin'," "Love It Loud," "I Still Love You."

Crazy Nights is one of my favorite KISS albums, I like all the songs, though the title track, My Way, Bang Bang You and Turn On The Night are my favorites.

Crazy Nights is a cool release. Lots of excellent tracks on it, I think (among those mentioned plus Good Girl Gone Bad and Thief In The Night)

Between the last few posts, we've named almost every song off Crazy Nights as our favorites. The only track not mentioned was "When Your Walls Come Down." That's a good song, too!

I like Gene's tracks on Crazy Nights. Hell or High Water is a good one too.

One KISS album I could never get into is Music From The Elder, that album is just a disaster from beginning to end, it's no wonder that the band dosen't look back on it very fondly

I listened to "Asylum" today and forgot how tasty Bruce could be with his solos. The Gene songs were not as bad as I remembered either. I still think it was a messed up album cover though.

Peter has come out of retirement to guest on a new solo single by former Frehley's Comet guitarist Richie Scarlet:
