| all good bands, but imho, as a scene, all that the Japs & Brits did was mimic what the Germans & Americans were doing. _________________ | |

| Actually, United were together before most of the German bands and years before the bay area was in high gear. Also, bands like Jurassic Jade, Shell Shock and DOOM had thier own, very unique sound. |

| Yup, Jurassic Jade and Doom especially REALLY had their own sounds. Their were kinda "art" thrash in a way. Very unique but very interesting. Shellshock was something of a Bay Area, Razor, crossover / thrash hybrid. You can hear bits and pieces of all sorts of thrash acts in their music, all without saying they were "copying" anyone. Uncle Sax is right, United were knocking around before much of the German scene got going. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

| didn't United actually start out as a traditional metal band though? i only have one from 1990 called Bloddy But Unbowed & it sounds more like standard bay area stuff to me. how many full lengths came before that one? i must admit ignorance to their early stuff, since i know nothing of it.
i do enjoy Jurassic Jade, but i always considered them a special oddity within their scene. much like Slaughter from Canada. _________________

Yah, they started actually as a Judas Priest cover band (hence their band name). They quickly moved to their own sound though. Most of their early material (demos, etc) was a thrash / NWOBHM hybrid. If you like Jurassic Jade, seek out Doom. You'll not be disappointed with them! Also, check out Sacrifice from Japan. They melded the Bay Area and German scenes into their own sound. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

I actually think that's quite a good album. I've never really been a big CF fan, but Vanity / Nemesis is a good speed metal album. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

I guess it was too 'clean' lyrically for most hardcore Celtic Frost fans, but it's actually my favorite. Then again, what do I know, I liked "Cold Lake" as well.
