| Kind of a tease actually. Like getting a day pass from Shawshank.
At first, you're excited to be free. Then when you're out there, you realize that the world around you has changed and moved on without you. You panick and rush back to the security of the small cell where ever decision is made for you and everything is just how you left it. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Van Halen's show on July 11th in Philly has been postponed with no reason given. Wonder if the 2nd leg of the tour isn't selling well. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. In this economy hitting the same markets twice probably isn't the best idea, especially when you consider how expensive the ticket prices are. | |

| Could be, I couldn't find anything yet about other shows being postponed or the tour being scrapped yet. We got an internal memo to pull all promos until further notice. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. In this economy hitting the same markets twice probably isn't the best idea, especially when you consider how expensive the ticket prices are. I read they are postponing a number of the shows - I am sure that is the issue. BTW - Live Nation is already starting to send out emails about discounts on tickets for the big shows this year (I've got a few already, including for Styx/Reo/Ted on Friday). At the M3 Festival, the merriweather post pavillion workers were walking around GIVING away lawn tickets to Megadeth/Rob Zombie/Lacuna Coil (M3 Fri/Sat, Megadeth Sun). I had VIP for M3 and when I went to get my goodie bag, not only did it have the T-shirt, VIP badge (for the VIP bar/artist meet & greet area), poster and sharpie, it also had a free lawn seat. I was surprised and pissed (since I already paid for my pit ticket!) but I was really surprised when they were just giving the tickets away! | |

| According to promoters the tour is doing good business:
Van Halen have abruptly postponed all tour dates after their June 26th show in New Orleans with no explanation.
The band yanked more than 30 long-planned dates, including shows in Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Salt Lake City and El Paso. Local promoters United Concerts and AEG issued statements regarding some postponed shows to local media, including the Salt Lake Tribune and Las Cruces Sun-News, but no details have been offered yet about rescheduled dates or refunds.
Most of the tour is promoted by Live Nation, whose reps wouldn't comment.
News of the postponed tour dates surprised several arena reps, who are featuring upcoming Van Halen shows prominently on their websites. "You want to know the absolute fuckin' truth? I have no fuckin' idea," a concert-business source with knowledge of the tour tells Rolling Stone.
"It's selling pretty good – I don't know why they would say it's being canceled," says a source at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, where the band was supposed to perform on July 7th.
Several of the non-canceled dates have nearly sold out, including this Saturday's show in Minneapolis and June 20th in Dallas. "We're selling really well," says Jack Larson, vice president and general manager of the Xcel Energy Center. "We're looking forward to it."
After decades of touring with Sammy Hagar (and, for a brief period in the late 1990s, Gary Cherone), Van Halen reunited with David Lee Roth for a 2007 tour and hit the road again with him in February. The band released its first new album with Roth, "A Different Kind of Truth," earlier that month. It sold 187,000 copies in its debut week and hit Number Two.

FYI, the concert that was supposed to happen the other night and was originally "postponed" was changed to officially "cancelled". Guess I'm lucky I saw then when I did, even if it was a lack-luster event. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | BTW this seems to be the real reason Van Halen cancelled the tour, Eddie Van Halen's health issues:
According to Van Halen's official website, guitarist and namesake Edward Van Halen, underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of Diverticulitis. No further surgeries are needed and a full recovery is expected within four to six months.
Van Halen's scheduled November 2012 tour of Japan is currently being rescheduled and the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013.

| Man, sucks getting old.
I had lunch with our director of public releations last week and I asked him what he thought of the Philly VH show. Having seen them in 6 other venues, he said the Philly show was the weakest. So maybe they were having an off night. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
