If that's how it's spelled, then I'd say someone name John Carobi signed it. It's Corabi. |

| I meant that I wasn't sure how to spell it. Didn't feel it warranted being looked up. Besides who can actually read most signatures anyway? |

| Silvertide - American Excess (EP) This EP has been sitting on my lala.com shelf (where I put my trade fodder) for a few months now. I bought it in Boston for $2, could have sworn they were a popular poppy alt-rock band, but no one ever bit. Last night I was looking at the cover and thought it looked a little bit like a rock album, so I popped it in and gave it a listen. Sure enough, this is no poppy alt-rock! Silvertide, at least on this EP, is a gritty, 70s-influenced rock band. They sound a lot like a more rockin' version of The Black Crowes. Can't believe it! Good score I didn't know I had. |

They're from Philly (my home town). They put out a full length album and were really starting to pick up some steam (opening for Aerosmith and some other big acts) and getting decent radio play. They even had acting roles in the last M. Night movie Lady in the Water. Then they sorta dissappeared. I haven't heard news about them lately. I hope they're putting together a new album and not broken up. | |

I hope they're putting together a new album and not broken up. Yeah, I'm trying to snag the full-length now on eBay. I read on Wikipedia how they just sort of fell off the face of the planet. Reading what was written, though, seems like the band succumbed to label pressure. It reminds me of when Powerman 5000 was about release Anyone For Doomsday? and at the last minute, after some promos got out, the "band" decided to scrap the album, go into the studio and record a different album. Of course, Powerman 5000 had a nice unique sound and style, but then when the newly recorded Transform came out, it was alt-pop rock. Totally radio-friendly, totally "in the now." I find it extremely hard to believe the band made that conscious choice. I'm probably reading into things here, but I hope Silvertide isn't in the studio recording some foppish pop-rock album, since that's the "sound of now" with bands like Jet, Velvet Revolver, etc. |
