High on Fire - De Vermis Mysteriis

I think it's a killer record, not quite as "catchy" as some of the material on Snakes, but a much more solid record overall. They don't exactly reinvent the wheel, but they continue to refine and enhance their sound. Easily one of the my favorites of theirs and one of the few metal releases that's really excited me this year.

I was in the same boat, I haven't seen the record anywhere and I don't do much online shopping. But that video shuffled mdv back to the top of my wants list so I went on a hunt for it in grande prairie yesterday (two and a half hour drive from my home) and finally scores a copy.

My wife and I listened to it twice through yesterday on our way back. I'm supprised she loved it as much as she did . She loves metal but usually has a hard time listening to music that harsh and dense, but she got right into it enough that she's the one that played it the second time. Gawd I love her!

Anyways this album is amazing and *%#*ing heavy as it gets. Before yesterday the only track i had heard was fertil grean. I'm amazed at how colorful and interesting the music stays throughout the whole listen. My favorite 3 fav tracks today are "madness of an architect" "fertile green" and "king of days." But this is the kind if album where my favorite tracks could change every listen. Contender for album if the year for me.

I finally got me a copy of this album coming my way. Can't wait to hear it.

While I won't see them this time around, I'd recommed seeing these guys live. They're even more intense than the albums.
