The ABB was my first band to noodle an interest in jazz. They had that improv thing while Steely Dan had this sort of pop sensability to it. I can only listen to jazz while I'm driving on long trips. I can't handle the busy-ness of it and appreciate the time sigs otherwise.

It also could depend on the style your listening to, there are even more sub-genres in jazz than there are in rock. All the different instrumental combinations garner an endless variety.

The Allman Brothers were listening to alot of Miles Davis and John Coltrane records, essentially post-bop leaning toward a freer mentality. "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" is essentially a jazz song.

Steely Dan is more influenced by the West Coast "cool jazz" sound, people like Dave Brubeck and Stan Getz.

I just grabbed it today, and I had not listened to this disc in over 20 years, and it brought back alot of memories, and surprisingly it holds up very well

I "quit" listening to ALOT of bands over the years but CF isn't one of them.

It's the one I liked the most, just off of the first listen. The song "Night by Night" is probably my favorite song I've heard so far. (Well, it was one of the catchier songs I heard).

That's actually my favorite SD song. Don't Take Me Alive and a few others compete for the spot as well. But Night By Night is such an awesome track

I never quit listening to them, just that album which I have not owned or listened to in forever, I have two of their other discs in my collection.

I was hoping for more instrumentals, oh well, it's a pleasant enough listen but didn't really grab me.
