At least until he again clashes with Stephanie McMahon, it's a well known fact those two don't like each other. But i guess Heyman needs money, all his plans from Hollywood to MMA fel through. I just wonder why he doesn't help out any other promotion with his creative mind - instead he goes to WWE where nobody will listen to him. It's always sad to see a talent get wasted.

Man did I ever love the UWF. When it got bought out by the Crockett people I was so excited since I would now get to see the UWF stars on the shows that would come to Baltimore. Saw an amazing Barry Windham/Bubba Rogers match on the 87 Bash Tour.
Mid-South/UWF was great, they always had a fantastic roster (most of the guys ended up at the WWF or WCW) and from all the shows and matches i've seen (isn't that much sadly) it was really awesome. Even Jim Duggan had great matches back there, unlike his WWF run where he only shined against his old Mid South enemies (like Ted DiBiase)
I remember they were the first match of the Wrestelmania IV tournament (one of my favorite Wrestlemanias).

And it was quite a good match. I think the best match between those two was the "Loser Leaves Town Tuxedo Street Fight Coal Miner's Glove On A Pole Steel Cage" (Now THAT's a gimmick match ) from the MSW Superdome Extravaganza in March 1985

Yes, but it was also my first Wrestlemanias so it sort of stuck with me. I know most people bad mouth that one but I liked it even if it's mostly for nostalgic reasons.

I'm glad nostalgia doesn't always work. The first Wrestlemania i saw was the ninth one and it's horrible (Back then of course i thought "Hogan won the title, awesome" and "Ooooh the Undertaker came back from the evil Attack")
While i don't think that Wrestlemania IV is crap, i do say that is long, boring and the crowd isn't into it. I mean they wait for Hogan - Andre and once that's over, they completely die. It also has the tournament problem. Just like "The Wrestling Classic" or "WCW Starrcade 1990" it suffers from having too many matches on the card. So everything is short...too short.
I also didn't like the Location (same as Wrestlemania V). The Trump Plaza looks like a huge beer tent, i always thought it would look good at the Oktoberfest here in Munich but isn't a location for a wrestling event. The wrestler coming down the stairs? Horrible...(I'm actually surprised the Warrior didn't trip and fell down as he still tried to go all top speed down the stairs)

Don't feel bad Dallas about loving WM IV. I still think I'm the only human being alive who loves WM2. And it still holds up for me today. Saw it live on Closed Circuit TV.
When I think of WM IV all I can think about is how happy I was they made Savage the champion. And how awesome the Clash Of Champions was on the same day.

The set-up for that match was so great. The Best Dressed Man In Mid-South with Dibiase destroying Duggan's car as a result. Amazing stuff. Makes me want to break out my old tapes.

I like WM 2 and 3 best. Attended Mania 3 at the Silverdome. Being way before the age of the internet it was awesome to go back and tell all my friends in Tennessee who won and that yes, Hogan slammed the Giant.

I don't feel bad about it, I like what I like and don't what I don't just like with my music choices . As I've said before, for the most part I've been consistently watching wrestling for over 20 years and I've become set in my ways. Another thing that colors my love for Wrestelmanias IV through VI is that those were my introduction to pro wrestling. Really, nobody in my family likes wrestling (most of them absolutly hate it) and I didn't have any wrestling friends until 1995 (about 4 years after becoming a fan) so I had to develop my likes and dislikes of wrestling without any outside influence.

Subject: Re: WWF/WWE/ECW/WCW Mon May 21, 2012 8:51 am
Chyna has a lot of problems and apparently it's notb ecause of drugs, but she has a lot of mental problems and as far as i know she even checked into a mental institution to get some help, after which she appeared in a state of "I love everything, all is great, even doing porn and becoming a smurf-for-hire is awesome" And after watching the Kayfabe Commentaries Youshoot with her, i got a really bad feeling. She's not herself anymore. The worst thing, from what i read is that apparently, she has no family and not even close friends to help her out.

Today is the 13th anniversery of Owen's death, truly a tragic ending. Speaking of which, last week was the anniversery of the Chris Benoit tragedy. Certainly two of the most shocking wrestling deaths in the 20+ years I've been watching it.
Owen
To this day, I'm not sure what to think of the Benoit death. He was my favorite wrestler until the incident. I understand that he had a damaged brain to the point of dementia, but I'm still not sure I can look past what he did.

I didn't have time to skim the whole thread, so this may or may not have been said already. There is a shoot video on youtube with the New Age Outlaws, and it's pretty deep (and preety long too, almost 2 hours). They're both newly sober, and the first 40-45 minutes of the video involves them telling how they got their lives back together.
And as for one of the comments on page one about how wrestling characters are all the same, here's a breath of fresh air.
This is Bray Wyatt from Florida Championship Wrestling (which is the WWE's developmental territory, I think), and he has a gimmick that really reminds me of Waylon Mercy. By the way, Wyatt in real life is the son of wrestler Mike Rotunda.

I remember that, even here in Germany, despite all the hate against Wrestling, all news stations reported it. It was a deep shock and i will never forget the protest storm against the german tv station that showed the WWF at the time because the refused to show the Owen Hart Tribute raw in it's entirety, stating the program is planned for months ahead and they can't change it (ox manur, even more ox manur because after the 1hr Raw came a re-run of Walker, Texas Ranger) The whole thing was despicable, the stunt was unnecessary, especially since it was planned as a "pun" against the WCW and the entrance Sting always did and then Vince didn't have the balls to stop the show. I watched the Val Venis Timeline 1999 Video (excellent DVD by the way) and it's really heartbreaking when he tells how he was only told there was an accident and then saw Owen on a stratcher rolling by....Val said he tried to talk to him, then saw his dead eyes and knew he was gone - it's a wonder he managed to get out there and have the match directly afterwards.
Speaking of this: I don't know why the WWF never managed to put Val Venis over, his porn star gimmick was perfect for the attitude, he was good wrestler, he had charisma and micwork and yet he was more or less a jobber.

We will never know what exactly happened and i don't believe that 'his brain resembled an Alzheimer patient' was the cause because then we would have a lot of angry old people who would kill people and that's not the cause. It's a very, very weird case. I saw the Kevin Sullivan Youshoot recently and he even told how much Benoit loved his wife and kid and even he can't understand that Chris could do something like this. There were a lot of rumours about a breakup, that Nancy wanted a divorce or something.
I remember those 2 days when it happened. First the messages that he is "missing" and wasn't at a house show and not the PPV, then the message they found the whole family dead. I was playing Heroes of Might & Magic with a friend, told him that and basically we stopped playing for a moment because it was shocking. Then came all the news about those weird SMS messages to other wrestlers. Maybe it's because i like Benoit too much as a wrestler (he was one of the all-time best) but i don't believe in a simple "he snapped, his brain was smurfed, that's the reason", it doesn't make much sense, that's the same as our german politians always saying that amok runs happen because of video games.

My regular wrestling fandom pretty much ended with Owen Hart's death. That was kind of the breaking point for me. Even during that timeframe I was the annoying guy saying "the 80's were better" but I still followed it. After that I just couldn't. Even worse was every time I might tune in it seemed like some dangerous unneeded stunt was being performed. Have never quite got all that. Just have two guys, make a personal issue between them, then make me pay to see them "fight" about it. That's all I ever wanted from my wrestling viewing. Yeah, wrestling passed me by a long time ago. Owen's death only made me see it more clearly. I couldn't stand to see what it had become at that point.
However long live 80's pro rasslin!

Looks like Ritchie Steamboat is wrestling dark matches as the son of Legend Ricky Steamboat. Now if that's the case how come Mike Rotunda's and Curt Hennig's sons can't do the same thing? These group of guys would make a good heel team of put together right.

Poor Virgil. Years spent as Ted's lackey has accounted for nothing. \
In other news, WWE Raw will soon go to 3 hours. They can barely make a whole 2 hours watchable now they're adding an extra hour. Don't they remember what happened to WCW when they went 3 hours? They overstayed their welcome and it hurt their ratings. WWE's ratings are low enough as it is.

That's exactly what I thought when I heard they were expanding to 3 hours. The only way that would work is if they combined the Smackdown and Raw rosters and just did one TV show a week. Heck, they should do that anyway since the "brand split" is a joke because guys appear on opposite brand shows all the time as it is.
Get ready for more "skits". I'm so glad it's baseball season because that give me an alternative to Raw most nights. Except tonight because the Cardinals played a day game. I may just watch MLB Network anyway if Raw starts with a long Cena in-ring diatribe.

Unfortunatly, missing any of Raw is not an option for me. It's a sickness but it's a compulsion to watch all of it. Luckily I multi-task on my computer so I can leave it in the periphreal (sic) vision of my mind when Ryder or Otunga comes out to get squashed, when the Funkasaurs does his revolting leg fat shake and stupid dance, Larungitis rhaspes his sentences, etc.

It's just history repeating itself: In 1998 WCW was on top of the wrestling world and started to go 3 hours with Nitro. It backfired badly. WWE is unable to learn from past mistake so they repeat each and every one of them. I mean apart from pushing old guys (Christian, Kane, Big Show) instead of helping younger wrestlers, rehashing the same smurf poo over again (i heard they make the 50. Degeneration X Reunion now) and hyping the same Main Eventers, it's the same crap
As for Virgil: The 'empty booth' pic has been made for years now. I don't know what the problem with him is, unless everyone makes fun of him, because he was a very bad wrestler and the story is that he got the WWF deal because he dropped his pants in front of Pat Patterson and Virgil was about as well endowed as 2 Cold Scorpio (Has anyone seen the Sandman Youshoot? It's awesome, he tells the 2 Cold Scorpio and his smurfing big rooster story.."yo, tie this guy" ) and that's how he got the job (Fun fact: In WWF his name Virgil was a pun on Dusty Rhodes who's real name is Virgil, in WCW Virgil was renamed Vincent as a pun on Vince McMahon)
