Geddy's voice is a little ragged on this particular date, but the music more than makes up for it. I have the Time Machine DVD which contains this full performance in the middle of the concert.

I was pretty much debating either getting the Time Machine dvd or Moving Pictures Live. I'm thinking I might kinda like a ragged Geddy vocal performance. Having re-watched Beyond The Lighted Stage and having recently gotten Different Stages I'm really in the mood for more live Rush.

Time Machine is an excellent release, Geddy doesn't sound bad, just a little ragged around the edges on some tunes.

The setlist is excellent, including live performances of "Presto" and "Time Stand Still" which are about 100 times better than their studio counterparts.

That Asphalt Ballet is one of the most underappreciated albums from that era IMO. I think it's great.

I remember them being on Star Search and wasn't impressed much with them. So I never bit when seeing it. Got it for $1.99 at Goodwill today and listened to it on the 80 mile drive home. Needless to say, I agree with you.

Funny thing about opinions. I had that cd and thought it sucked but thought the follow-up was much better. In fact I still have Pigs, but the s/t has been long gone from my collection. Weird, ain't it?

Anyhoo, moving on. Finally found something worthwhile in the FYE used bins this weekend...

I like that Brother Cane S/T too. I don't think they ever quite matched that one.

They didn't, but their other two albums are still pretty good. That Pariah disc is very underrated, too.

Wrathchild was almost the permanent opening act for KIX in the early 80s, I saw them open countless shows...this was also prior to them getting really "heavy", they were a standard AC/DC-ish party rock band in the early days. Both bands were based in Maryland and were friends.
