- Some quick observations are this, how was Bon Jovi on the short list last year, but they're not on the short list this year? I'm not a huge fan of their work by any means, though I did really enjoy their first two offerings.
The obvious snubs from the metal heads point of view would be: Deep Purple, KISS, Judas Priest, UFO, Scorpions, and then Maiden.
With that being said, how is that a duo like Hall & Oates hasn't gotten a sniff, or how have bands like Journey, Chicago, Steely Dan, & the Doobie Brothers never been inducted??? This panel of voters is totally f'ing clueless! sounds like this is a case for the BCS Bowl committee You know what, as much flack as they receive (the BCS system), they seem far more intelligent then that of the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame Committee!

| What I have noticed about the Rock n Roll Hall of Bullsh!t is that all the hard rock/metal bands they have let in, are now "critiically acclaimed' which is amazing, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, AC/DC., Metallica and if Guns N Roses make it in, are all hip to like.
The very magazine who is big supporter of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, Rolling Stone were notorious for giving bad reviews to all the bands (with exception of Metallica and G N R) through out the 70's, 80's, and for most of the 90's. Suddenly, instead of Aerosmith being viewed as second rate Rolling Stones (their words not mine) are a band that carried on traditional rock values, etc, metal fans were viewed by this magazine and other dumb as$$ critics as being stupid, trailer trash, etc. When the music showed staying power suddenly it was cool to like these bands.
Other bands such as KISS, they still hate, Deep Purple, because Ritchie Blackmore refused to be interview by that 'sh!t' magazine is considered uncool, Hall and Oates who sold millions and influenced countless blue eyed soul acts and are not metal, are still not cool. Since they are deemed 'uncool' those aging hippies won't let them in, anytime soon.
That is the way I see things anyway, Iron Maiden may have a chance sooner then KISS, those snobs are coming around suddenly thinking they are wonderful.

| The whole thing is kind of a joke. I mean, the Beastie Boys, Eric B. & Rakim, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Donna Summer, yet one of the world's most influential bands ever, KISS, isn't even considered? Deep Purple, one of the fore runners of hard rock and heavy metal, no where to be seen?
On a separate note: I like Eric B & Rakim. Use to dig a lot of the 80's rap stuff. Schooly D, Run DMC, Public Enemy, S.F.C., Mantronix, Boogie Down Productions, etc. were all some that I was into.
I also like some Donna Summer. "I Feel Love" and "Love to Love You Baby" are a sexy songs! _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Agree with you Manny - these guys are clueless and only into bands they deem "hip" - the RnR Hall of SHAME. These are the same elitists that would rewrite history to make themselves feel good about what they believe. Ass monkeys!!!!!! | |

| The funny thing is that you would think these music magazines would have writers/voters who grew up in the eighties and would look at some of these acts favorably. Guess the Lester Bangs types still rule there.
Last year someone gave me the complete Rolling Stone magazine on disc. Amazingly a lot of their metal album reviews were very positive. Megadeth and Cinderella all got great reviews at the time. And I've yet to run across anything that they outright trash. Most of the venom is towards pop acts. But the features and articles are pure music snobbery. It reads like parody most of the time.
I've never been nor plan on ever going to the HOF but I would think they would put Kiss in just from a business stand point. I assume each act gets a wing or display of some kind. Kiss is one of the few that would be worth seeing all the memorabilia and they would draw a ton of people.

KISS are probably saving all of their crap for the day they open their own Hall of Fame, with an entire wing devoted to each band member. ...Vinnie Vincent's wing, of course, will be in the broom closet behind the men's room. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| jstate go back to their reviews of the 70's acts like Aerosmith, AC/DC, Black Sabbath etc, also check out their book ( don't buy that pile of sh!t book) Rolling Stone Record Guide that trashes every album from any band with even a hint of metal. | |

| No metal bands at all on there... damn!
I will say though that Joan Jett, War, Donna Summer, Heart, and Donovan do deserve the nomination.
I agree with you all too on being irritated there is no Deep Purple, Judas Priest and Kiss. At 25 years from the 1st album, there also should be Slayer, Dio, Megadeth, Armored Saint, Venom, Dokken, and tons more.
Looking at the list of already inducted, where is Ringo Starr at? He should be in there. The other 3 Beatles are.

| Maybe I can talk some of those Occupy Wallstreet protesters to camp out in front of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and demand Deep Purple be nominated and inducted into the Hall. | |
