I just finished listening to the Megadeth and Metallica and I enjoyed both.
You see, the thing about Steel Panther is that they are trying to be funny. While Lou Reed on the other hand... well thanks to him now we all know James Hetfield is a table.
That's what I hate about Steel Panther. I wish they'd be serious, you know.

They definitely have the musical chops, but the lyrics get really old really fast.

I wonder how many people recognize that artwork. "Heavy Metal" came out before a lot of people who listen to this music were born.

South Park did a funny parody of the whole Heavy Metal movie a coupla seasons ago, so maybe some of the kids today would recognize it from there. Either way, still bitchin'.
How's the album/band? I've seen them as Amazon recommedations and everyone's favorite whipping boy Eddie Truck gave them a mention on That Metal Show. THe clips I've heard sound decent enough.

I just ordered the new one but I have 3 other ones and there's a definite AC/DC vibe. Sort of a cross between them and Kings Of The Sun. Nothing new, just good old fashioned pub rock.
Tell me there's no AC/DC sound here:

That's such an iconic image, though. I'd bet a ton of people know what it is, though have never seen it.

And that's better than AC/DC's song about balls, in my opinion.

Think the band had to pay royalties or buy the rights to do that cover? It's sure a spittin' image of the original; the trailing letters in "SUPA" even curve downward like the trailing letters in "HEAVY".

Depends. Did they self-release this one? I thought they did. If so, I doubt they got permission. I don't know.

New band led by former drummer for Lordi. Sounds nothing like that band though.
