Mr. Big did/does NOT suck and niether did Nelson (however, not being a fan of AOR I can excuse DeathCult's slander-but I expect better from you MB-j/k of course).

Well, to be fair I never did own an album from Mr. Big. I just hated the songs they released, so steered clear of them.
Nelson on the other hand - drew me with the songs they released. There were hooks.

Give them a try then. Many of the Mr. Big fans around here also hated the singles, mainly To Be With You.

Funny, but I got a Mr. Big CD in the same yard-sale pile I spoke of earlier (where I also got the Nelson disc)...that song "To Be With You" always caused me physical pain but I figured it might make decent trade bait. Imagine my surprise when I played the disc and I actually liked some of it except for that godawful ballad. It's not a classic by any means but I enjoyed it enough to deem it a "keeper."
Meantime, the Nelson disc continues to languish on my trade list, it's been there almost as long as the fabled Michael Bolton disc was...

I hate that ballad, but do like the Mr Big disc, as for Nelson, the CD may come in handy as a drink coaster.

At this point I may as well hang onto the Nelson disc till one or both of the brothers die in a plane crash or something, then I can eBay it and cash in

or for target practice!
I actually think After the Rain is solid. Its nothing spectacular but they do what they do well..

Well, I guess that settles it. I must track down that Mr. Big CD now. I'll prolly be able to get it at my local FYE for just pennies. They have tons of stuff for dirt-cheap. I will be surprised if I like it more than Nelson though. But we'll see.

Seriously, I was like "Ohhh, man, I can't believe I even bought this f**king thing? I hate that 'To Be With You' song! Oh well, may as well give it a chance..." and the rest of it was pretty decent hard rockin' stuff. I was pleasantly surprised. It's sorta like Van Hagar (with the added bonus of no Sammy Hagar). So if that's your kind of meat, I say have at it.
But hey, if your Nelson disc ever gets a scratch and you need a replacement, hit me up. I'll let it go cheap.

The latest Mr. Big release What If... is a GREAT cd! Their best by far and I'll admit I dug/dig em... Addicted to that Rush was epic.

Lightning Strikes Twice from Nelson is a very good release as well - it is much better than After the Rain.

Mr. Big, Nelson, and Night Ranger have all done real well this year. Maybe I'd add Warrant but it hasn't stuck with me well, need to give it a more intimate spin.
