Me too, though I'm not really expecting much. I was sooooo in love with her when I was a kid in the 70's.
Oh yeah...during the hayday of the Runaways, she was my favorite.

Cherie rocks. i really like what Duff & Juliette have been putting out, plus i love the Runaways, so this might just turn out to be a good modern rock album.

I'm most likely in the minority in feeling this way, but I find Cherie Currie to be one of the most overrated people in the history of music. I really like The Runaways, but I much preferred the band when Joan took over on vocals. I think the s/t album and "Queens of Noise" are really good, but I think "Waitin' For the Night" is easily the bands best album.

Totally love all the Runaways and Cherie recordings. I tend to also like the harder stuff a little more after she leftt The Runaways, but it's all great. I seen the interview she did on the Eddie Trunk tv show about the album, and now looked for it. According to wikipedia, no record deal has been made yet.
She did a T.REX cover song though with a glam band. I might buy that.

Anyone like the cover she did with Danzig? Kinda trippy, but I dig it.

Sad that this album produced by Sorum has yet to be mastered and is currently shelved.
I like Cherrie cuz she is a huge huge fan of David Bowie, and I am really bummed that i missed her when she was in the area. I was gonna get her to sign my copy of Neon Angel. She's been through alot and I think that she's good but in all honesty I perfer Joan.
Recently Lita Ford and Cherie Currie released a christmas song it was actually pretty good

Yeah, I enjoyed it too.
I agree that The Runaways' best record is Waitin for the Night, but the records before still kick ass and Cherie rules. I dug her solo records too.
That clip of Cherie Currie and Steve Summers doing "Life's A Gas" is weird to me because, The Runaways, Pretty Boy Floyd and T. Rex would all be included in my list of absolute favorite artists...but I didn't care much for that cover.

She doesn't look bad in those current pictures either.

If they had recorded and released this when the Runaways bio pic came out then I am sure it would have been released with a lot of fanfare, but outside of music geeks like ourselves how many people actually know who Cherie Currie is?

Overrated? I wasn't aware that she even "rated".
I've never heard her name thrown around as a great vocalist or great front-woman or anything. Not trying to discredit her or anything, but she's just not a name that comes up very often in music discussions, does it?

Only on geek boards like this one, she is a great frontgirl but she called it a day as a performer, except for an occassion gig before she was 21

This thread started because of her appearance w/Matt Sorum on "That Metal Show". Both Cherie and Matt were pushing an album involving a collaboration of artists, with Cherie singing on the album. I think Eddie referred to her as the great Cherie Currie and Matt Sorum called her an icon. Is she an icon or was she great, because The Runaways and women in Rock 'n' Roll in the 70's were an anomaly OR was she really that talented? I think she is a part of music history, because Kim Fowley was looking for some prepubescent "looking" young girl to front an all female band, and Cherie ended up in the band because of dumb luck. "I" think Cherie was a novelty act, and the real talent in The Runaways continued to have success, because they were just that, talented. "I" think Cherie was a product of her time, due to the fact that women rockers were such a rarity, and she has benefited from this tenfold over the years. I don't have an axe to grind with her, I just don't see her as being that talented, from either a vocalist or someone who was fronting a band.

The first thing wrong with this is listening to both Matt Sorum and Eddie Trunk's opinions on the subject.

Waitaminnit, so the Cherie/Sorum album was never released? Well that proves how much Eddie Trunk's endorsement is worth.

Touche'...With that being said, I think if someone like Tony Iommi, whose opinion I respect, had said what either of them had stated, I would still dismiss either assertion.

I have heard the original version by Nancy Sinatra a lot on AM radio, so this will be hard to get used to. Glenn's part is ok, I wish Cherie stuck closer to the original.
I just looked and seen that Cherie sang at Lita Ford's gig on January 10th,2014. Other guests that were to be there included - Slash, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), and Teddy 'Zig Zag' Andreadis (Guns N Roses) on keys.
There are pics on Cherie's facebook page. I hope there's videos of it too. https://www.facebook.com/cherie.currie.58 https://www.whiskyagogo.com/site/event/whiskys-50th-anniversary-lita-ford/

I don't know if Currie was the best vocalist ever (well, I know she wasn't), but I think her vocals definitely fit the Runaways very well. And I do think she was a good frontperson for a band like that, no question in my mind.
Overrated, icon or whatever...I don't know.
But she was awesome.

She was awesome as far as her stage presence. The girl was 15, 16 years old wearing a corset and walking out there like she owned the stage. Watch those old live clips on youtube and she seemed to have confidence and stage presence most adult performers do not posses.
But her impact was being in part of the Runaways, on her own she did a solo album that went nowhere and an album with her twin sister that went nowhere. Unlike Joan Jett and Lita Ford, she was not a songwriter, and unlike those two ladies, she stopped performing at the age of 21.
Pioneer, absolutely but I think her impact and influence on other female artists is minimal, at least IMO.

Not to date it hasnt I was real excited when I heard bout this because of the guest spots and I was curious on what he sound would be like given her fanfare to David Bowie. Cherie posted on facebook awhile ago mentioining that the album was shelved and has yet to be mastered. This album was done with Joan's label btw. Thats when she decided to stop waiting and just hit the road with her band and son (who has a band of his own and sounds pretty good) That episode where she and Sorum appeared was a few years ago I think. I hope it sees the light of day though
I think part of Cherie is that she was at the right place at the right time, she was the face of the runaways but we ALL know that there was alot of talent, (Joan, and Lita) and look at the times till the Runaways there was no straight up all girl rock band. Do I think she has 0 talent? Absolutely not. I think she's talented and I think that because of her involvement in the Runaways which the band itself is Iconic, that makes an Icon too.
Another thing i like about Cherie is that she interacts with the fans, after shows and on social media
Anybody see her chainsaw art? Its freaking awesome!!!!
