My last dip into the CD Baby $5 sale got me 16 CDs but only 4 that really stood out. One was this band called Gates Of Winter. Goth tinged prog metal that is beautiful yet heavy with vocals that go from smooth barritone voice that transitions smoothly into death growls. The best way to describe them is Amorphis meets Saviour Machine but that doesn't quite describe it properly. Best thing is to listen to some samples:

I've heard numerous clips from this one and I really want it. Haven't bought anything from CD Baby in a long time, though. This one has been on my Want List there for a while now. It got really good reviews when it came out, too.

The most noticible (sid) aspect of that album (apart from the great music) is the production. It's an independent release but the production is so that you can't tell.
