Those first two albums and the EP are still lotsa fun to listen to; I still find myself going to YouTube sometimes and jamming to those.
After Hell Awaits, they sort of get a little tedious to listen to for me, other than a few hidden gems.
This riff sounds a bit like "Dead Skin Mask," but to me, this sounds waaay more sinister and eerie.

It's excellent!
Reign in Blood's biggest flaw was being released before South of Heaven.
South of Heaven's the better album in my book.

great band, not a bad song or album. you can't go wrong with any of them.
I have to disagree with this. God Hates Us All is imo a pile of crap; it's hard to appreciate it, unless you're some kind of Slipknot die hard.

The only Slayer album I own is Show No Mercy which also includes Haunting the Chapel. Only other album I'm really interested in seeking out is Hell Awaits. I know a lot of people consider Reign in Blood - Seasons their best, but it just doesn't appeal to me quite as much as the earlier stuff.
Stay old school!!!

Reign in Blood is about as old school as Show No Mercy ...
SNM was heavily influenced by NWOBHM acts but it is with RiB where Slayer come into their own imo
You cannot discount the influence of RiB on thrash metal but also on extreme metal.

I think they really found their sound with Haunting the Chapel, actually. Slayer is definitely one of my favorite bands, I absolutely love everything from 1990 and earlier. Believe it or not, South of Heaven is actually my favorite Slayer album. Reign in Blood is certainly a close second for me, but it is obviously the more influential album. So, what are some of my favorite Slayer songs, you ask? Hmmm, let's see...
Crionics, Spill the Blood, South of Heaven, Silent Scream, War Ensemble, Piece By Piece, Angel of Death, Spirit in Black, Hallowed Point, Altar of Sacrifice, Epidemic, Mandatory Suicide, etc. This is too hard haha!

My FIRST Slayer album and probably still my favorite...
Second for pure thrash value is Seasons in the Abyss
Lastly, I found Diabolus in Musica my third fav for its dark gloomy rhythms.

Slayer's influence in extreme metal is huge! Their style of thrash can't be denied.
My favorite album from them is Seasons in the Abyss.

I really dig Diabolus. It is quite a bit different than their older stuff but I dig the grooves on that one. Deaths Head is a killer song
