The New wave of traditional metal thread got me encouraged to start looking for bands in the "new wave of thrash metal". After youtubing a few bands, I found Evile. This band is definitely going on my want list.

Yeah, these guys are one of my favorites as far the new wave goes. I like both of their albums. Ol Drake can shred!

I bought both of their albums last year. They're definately helping to keep the old school thrash sound alive.

They are in my top 50% bracket as well regarding new kids on the scene.

that new album they just put out has some ultra duty early sepultura influence. Pretty rad.

I noticed that too... even the album art is influenced by Arise.

You guys beat me to it... I was going to say that Evile reminds me of late 80s / early 90s Sepultura meets late 80s (circa Justice) Metallica...
but Evile is a great band - and sounds somewhat more original than most of the other retro-thrash bands...
My 2nd favorite would be Suicidal Angels

I liked their first album very much. One of the better "new wave of thrash". Their 2nd album left me a little flat. I think I set my sights too high because I liked their debut so much. I should give it a fresh spin to see if anything changed. It's been awhile.
I'm assuming these guys are soldiering on after the death of one of the original members?

I agree that the first album is much better. The vocals just seemed tired and repetitive on the second one...

Interesting thrash band.
Too bad they're still missing from my collection.

I'd agree. It's been awhile since I've played it, but as soon as I saw your reply, that's the part I remembered. Very repetitive in the lyrics. Same phrases or chorus over and over and over.

Didn't they lose their bass player a couple of months ago?

Yea, he died right after the release of their last album. But it's been over a year already.

I think they were also on tour when it happened.

Just read about this again today. Evile were touring together with Entombed, I think. And I read an interview with their drummer today, where he reflects on the night it happened. Another member of Evile broke his jaw in 3 places on the same tour, only weeks before the tragic death!

They remind me more of Slayer than anything else on the debut, but on their second album, I can hear a lot more 1980s Metallica influences in the fold.

That was my gripe with the second album as well. I also didn't care for the change in the vocal delivery. However, the music itself was quite good. While I was expecting another thrash assault like the first one, it did show that they wanted to grow musically. I expect big things from their third album, whenever that gets released.

Looks like Ol Drake is on vocals now. It also appears his brother Matt is no longer in the band. Despite that, it’s still brutally tight and aggressive!
