| Well being a huge music lover and metalhead this is the longest I've ever went without buying any new music. It's been 3 months and dam have I saved jingle.
I'll be buying new stuff as soon as I get back to work and on my feet again.

| I tried to buy some music on my lunch break today (I was just in one of those "I wanna buy a CD" moods) and it was, as the kids say, an "epic fail."
Went to two stores - Best Buy and Borders Books & Music - and WOW, their music departments are now even smaller than they were the last time I was in either of those stores, only a few months ago (I bought the new Maiden @ the Best Buy back in August/Sept., whenever that came out). I took a quick look thru the racks in both stores but didn't find anything that even remotely floated my boat so I left empty handed both times...
Damn. I'm gonna miss having that F.Y.E. just up the road (overpriced though they were) even more than I thought!!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I used to have two dozen options within a 20 minute drive when I lived in Sacramento. Here in Montana, I have to drive almost 100 miles to look at two options, besides two thrift stores or so. Those options are hastings and Walmart. When I am in the bigger cities driving for my job, I can't park my truck anyplace cause it's against the law to park and/or leave a truck unattended with explosives. _________________ | |

| Since I moved into my new house I really haven't been buying too much. Don't get me wrong, I have bought a few things but nothing like I was. I also really haven't been going to any stores since the FYE by me has closed. I'm going to just try and get through Amazon or any other internet stores where they have a reasonable price. I might even wait now for things to become used. _________________ | |

Ditto on all counts. So far I've only bought 5 CDs in 2011.

| It seems to me this year especially early usually isn't full on new cds coming out. But I currently have bills to pay during my time off from surgery so what money I saved is just for that.
I will get back to buying new releases but I'm thinking nothing like in the past buy just what I want.

| I've picked up 9 CDs thus far in '11 but they were all purchased during the FYE Going Out Of Business Extravaganza. If it weren't for that I probably wouldn't have bought anything yet this year. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I'm doing ok so far this year. I'm really, really trying to stick to only stuff from my want-list. Since it's over 200 items long, I shouldn't have much trouble keeping it interesting. I think I'm done with "blind purchases" in general. There is always gonna be exceptions of course, but hearing a clip or 2 and then ordering an album was getting out of hand. Too many purchases over the years that just ended up shelved once the newness wore off. For the first time ever, I'm keeping track of my acquisitions for the year. So far, no 2011 releases have been made, although I'll be getting Motorhead and Social Distortion soon-ish. Other than that, this year I've gotten 25 cds already, either purchased used or traded for, nothing brand new yet. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| i bought more CD's then I usually would have by this time due FYE's firesale, but I am going to try to stick to my list and not do so many impulsive buys, which will be easier to do since they are no longer any more physical music stores within a 25 mile radius. | |

| I was surprised to see that I've already got 25 cds this year, but allot of them were purchased with gift cards from Christmas and a big trade I had with Martinsane. That number will start to taper off soon enough. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I'm a cheapskate. Pretty much everything is used or discount. I probably obsess more on price than I do on what to buy. It is always more satisfying when you score those great deals. The search for bargains is almost half the fun of it.
I purchase only a handful of new releases each year. I couldn't even come up with a top ten for last year. Ultimately I'm fine waiting for stuff to turn up later on.

| I'm done buying music for a while (yeah right!). I dont even buy cd's anymore, all I care about right now is vinyl. I met a dude on Craigslist here in town and he's selling his vinyl for $1 each (and some rare stuff for a few bucks more). I've bought over 200 LP's in the last week and a half so do the math. He keeps bringing in more albums from his storage in the valley 50 miles away to his garage where he lives across town. He'll call me up and tell me "yeah, I just brought in all the R's and S's which may or may not contain Rush, Rainbow, Sweet, Scorpions, and/or Savatage". So what are ya gonna do, right? So, I get in the car and go to his house and buy like 50 LP's. Then 3 days later, it's the T's, U's, and V's. It's a tough job but someone's gotta buy up all this killer vinyl, may as well be me. | |
