Voted for the Scorps with Priest very close behind I assumed we were voting for our "favorite" from the list; not necessarily the "heaviest". Did I misconstrue the original intent of this thread? _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I voted for this too because it's the one JP album I've listened to most and the one I usually reach for first when I want to hear some priest. Absolute classic.

| I voted for "Taken By Force", which was the first Scorpions (Uli Jon Roth era album) that I got four years ago. Outside of KISS and AC/DC, it took me a while to get around all that great music from the 70's.
My rankings would go like this:
1. Scorpions - Taken By Force 2. Judas Priest - Sin After Sin 3. AC/DC - Let There Be Rock 4. KISS - Love Gun 5. U.F.O. - Lights Out tied w/Rush - Farewell to Kings

| All these albums are killer the only one I do not own is the Sweet album which I once had a copy somebody had taped for me.
I am a huge Alice Cooper fan but while I feel it that 'Lace and Whiskey' has a few good songs, it is still not one of my favorite Cooper albums, and never rank this album near the top of any poll when including great albums.
'Sin After Sin' is a classic, Roger Glover (Deep Purple man I might add) did an excellent job in capturing those great songs and capturing the moment. A landmark album that too often gets overlooked and not praised enough, interesting enough I have a Guitar World issue that listed the album as one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
Scorpions Taken by Force is still my favorite Scorpions album and prefer the Uli Jon Roth era of their career. This is also the first album where you can hear the beginnings of the sound they would begin to explore and gain international success with.

| Had to go with my Oyster boys here. I love Spectres for many different reasons, a classic album!
Then I would pick Judas Priest- Sin After and Sin and Thin Lizzy- Bad Reputation for my 2 and 3

| Back in '77 I was a huge KISS fan and loved all the hard rock stuff too. But I hardly ever listen to any 'hard rock' anymore (except old KANSAS). My vote is "sin after sin" as I have actually been spinning it a lot this last couple of weeks. They are not on the list but you can never go wrong with the Ramones either.....from the 70's I probably play them the most! | |

| I'm a huge Rush fan and I love "A Farewell To Kings", but There are some legendary albums that came out in 1977 and that is one tough list. AC/DC - Let There Be Rock Judas Priest - Sin After Sin (these two would be my picks for best of 1977) KISS - Love Gun KISS - Alive II(Kiss was huge but "Love Gun" my least fave of first 6) Nazareth - Expect No Mercy (I love the early Naz from '72-75 the most, this album a comeback from ok album "Play N The Game") Scorpions - Taken by Force (Last studio from Uli Roth era, great great album) Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever (Ted rocked 1977) Queen - News of the World (Love this album, in my top 3 Queen albums) Rush - A Farewell to Kings (an incredible album in a year with alot of other incredible albums) Rainbow - On Stage (I didnt know this album back then but I love Rainbow and this live album is totally 1977). Sweet - Off the Record (I love Sweet but not this album so much) Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation(Great album, last of the Brian Robertson era.) I couldnt choose between Priest and AC/DC so since the poll only allows one choice, I picked Rush AFTK | |

| ^It was only Motorhead's debut. "On Parole", which should have been their debut, was much better, as were all the other albums Motorhead released. If any album "defined" them, it was either Overkill or Ace of Spades, IMHO.
Sin after Sin is a classic - like just about all of them - I found it impossible to choose, so let "Sails of Charon" decide it for me (Scorps, in case...).
