Devil Riding Shotgun...

Ultimatum played a show last night at Heroes & Legends. The opening band (Devil Riding Shotgun) was great, old school dooooom



metal similar to Place of Skulls, The Obsessed or Pentagram.

Talked to the guitarist after the show and found out he's a huge fan of

Victor Griffin and also Wino. Trog would have been grinning from ear to

ear. Unfortunately only



one person stood in front of the stage to watch them. Still, I thought you guys might dig them.

i can hear a little Kyuss in them as well

YES!!! Kyuss is a good comparison point. I kept thinking as I was watching them that they sounded a bit like Pentagram.
I'll tell you this, their CD is well produced but is different than
what they sound like live. In concert they were noisy, had tons of
intentional feedback and stuff. It was very cool.

Forgot to listen yesterday; just did, though. This is actually pretty good, though the vocals seem a little weak. Nice grooves, though. They seem to have far more stoner rock than doom in their music, at least after listening to the 2 songs.

Is their album a regular CD, not a CDR?

It is a regular CD with a pro printed cover, but it's in a slimline case.

I'm the guitarist in Devil Riding Shotgun, and I tend to agree that our onstage sound is more a bit DooMy than the CD.

That said, we really aren't shooting for a specific genre/subgenre, just letting the music inside of us out. We appreciate and are influenced by various forms of music, but we do love the heavy stuff!

Now that I found this site, I think I'll go poke around a bit...

His band kicked it pretty hard, too (even down a guitarist), so the feeling's mutual. Oldskool Thrash RULES!! \m/ \m/
