The best Viking Metal band bar none is Amon Amarth.
There's a few other bands that had norse themes though, of course Bathory via Hammerheart, Nordland ... Manowar like throwing in their viking theme every now and then ... Enslaved have done some viking stuff too..
But AMON AMARTH! Check them out

Heidevolk. They are from my hometown, and back in the day they basically gigged every Saturday, so I've seen 'em lots of times. The lyrics are in Dutch though.

Heh, never knew that they were well known outside of Holland. Haven't listened to 'em in donkey's years. They were always a class live band though, even if folkish stuff isn't your thing.

The keyboard player was actually a classmate of my sister's ex-boyfriend, and one of their guitar players also plays in Heidevolk. Skyclad are the epitome of folk metal, but have very little in common with the modern breed of stuff like Finntroll, Ensiferum and Korpiklaani. There's a few blips in Skyclad's discography (especially after Martin Walkyier left), but albums like Jonah's Ark, Prince of the Poverty Line and Irrational Anthems are folk metal at its finest.

My Favorite style of Music, of the forementioned.
Check out Skyforger for sure, but also these bands which no one has mentioned: Tyr, Eluveitie, Illuminandi, Slechtvalk, and Arvinger. All have Myspace sites.

Anyone heard the new Skyforger album Kurbads? I'm not familiar with their previous work but this is the best album I've heard from this genre (of course this is my opinion). The guitar solos are awesome.

I'm really impressed with Eluveitie's brand of folk metal. There is also Mago De Oz (as long as you don't mind Spanish lyrics).
