Yeah, the song kicks ass. My avatar for the longest time on here was Billy Crudup standing on top of the roof in Kansas and calling himself a Golden God. I've got Almost Famous The Bootleg Cut/Director's Edition. With it came a C.D of the songs that were played by Stillwater in the movie. My second favorite song from that movie is "Love Comes & Goes", which was written by Nancy as well.

Cool, didn't know there was already a Heart thread 'round here.
Our local library was having a fundraising book/video/music sale yesterday so I picked up Heart's "Dog & Butterfly" (remastered w/bonus tracks) and "Jupiter's Darling" (2004) on a whim. I've never owned any Heart before but I have always liked their radio stuff (and besides, who didn't crush big time on Nancy Wilson during the '80s? Haha)...
After giving both a first spin, I have a feeling I'm gonna be exploring more of the Heart catalog in the future. "Dog & Butterfly" was quite excellent, and "Jupiter's Darling" has some great stuff on it as well. I noticed S.D. made some Zeppelin comparisons a few posts back and I can definitely see the resemblance, especially on "Dog & Butterfly."
I'm not 100 percent sure but I think I may have heard some of the "Jupiter's Darling" tracks on a VH1 special years ago, some kind of anniversary concert where the band jammed a bunch of old & new songs live with a variety of special guests. Gretchen Wilson (country singer) blew the roof off when she sang "Barracuda" with'em that night!!
So to those who know more about this band and their catalog than I do, I ask... where should I go from here??

'Little Queen' and 'Bebe Le Strange' are the next two that should be on your hit list

I need to check out more of their stuff. Great live band though, saw them last summer with Def Leppard.
Red Velvet Car was really good. They're working on the new album now.

I love 'Dreamboat Annie', so FF pick that up as well, excellent disc.
BTW they used to do a killer version of 'Battle of Evermore' and even recorded for the 'Singles soundtrack' but as the Lovemongers

I had that soundtrack for years before I realized the Lovemongers were Heart (more or less). I just never made the connection till I saw a Lovemongers cd with Ann & Nancy's pictures on it.

I saw The Lovemongers a few times when I lived in Seattle, they were a great band. Ann & Nancy wanted to create music without dealing with the corporate monster "Heart" had become, it was a labor of love.
I've never been more than a casual fan of Heart. Had the Greatest Hits for awhile but eventually ditched it for lack of shelfspace.
How's the Lovermonger stuff? Were they trying to distance themselves from their past or would you say it was Heart-like in it's delivery?

The Lovemongers is close to Heart's 1970's sound. Kind of like mellow zeppelin and folk-rock.

They released a Christmas album when they were still known as the Lovemongers, but then a few years back reissued it under the Heart name (with the title altered to "A Lovemoners Christmas") so I would imagine that as far as the Wilson sisters are concerned, they're the same band no matter what the name.

I am partial to the 80's Heart, myself.
I love and respect the 70's Heart and Ann is still my favorite female vocalist ever.
But Passionworks, Heart, Bad Animals, Brigade & Desire Walks On are all my faves...

There are songs here and there from those albums I like, but it was barely "Heart". They were a corporate rock band, saddled with outside producers and songwriters, the group themselves hate a lot of this material.

Bet they "hate" all the money they made too. I have heard they were on the brink of bankruptcy when HEART the lp broke. I caught a show at Six Flags in Arlington, Tx that tour and it was pretty good. Perhaps not as rockin as in the past, but very professional.

When I went to Germany as an exchange student in 1987 my group stayed in a hotel in Berlin that had a conveniently-placed beer garden across the street. Needless to say, if we weren't in school or exploring the rest of the city, our group spent a LOT of time sampling the "local flavor" there. The only thing even remotely "hard rock" on the jukebox in that place was Heart's S/T album from 1985....everything else was European pop, dance music, etc. -- so my friends and I must've played that Heart album as our "drinking soundtrack" about a hundred times during our stay there. To this day if I hear "What About Love," "Never" or "These Dreams" it reminds me of that beer garden.

Yeah, I know...they do very little of it live anymore...

They still perform a few hits from the big 80's 'Alone' etc, they objected more to the way they allowed their image to be overtaken by the music, by having the focus being on what they are wearing, music videos, all the talk about Ann Wilson's weight then the actual music was created during that 1985-1990 era.

Yeah, I think "Alone" and "These Dreams" still make their way into the live set...and I do recall them (in hindsight) resenting the whole image thing...
