One of their most underrated, Passionworks ranks high on my list. I am currently revisiting their catalog to add to NLTM. I had forgotten how much I loved that album.

Dreamboat Annie. The second album I ever bought with my own "birthday money", the first was Rock N Roll Over by Kiss.
I still think Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen are peerless (best Zep albums not recorded by Zep). I can't even begin to imagine how many times I played Magic Man, Crazy On You and Sing Child (one of the most underrated tunes in their catalog).
The following albums including Dog & Butterfly are actually really good records, they just didn't quite hit the ball out of the park the way they did on the first two.
Cool that Dog & Butterfly got mentioned so quickly, that album has my favorite Nancy Wilson lead vocal tune - Treat Me Well, I used to play that song over and over.
I also remember buying the 45 of Barracuda when it came out...my Mother got tired of hearing me complain that they didn't play it on the radio enough!

I love all their early albums, with the expection of 'Magazine' but even that album has a few good tunes on it, and my favorite by Heart is 'Dog and Butterfly'
I have easier naming my least favorite which is 'Bad Animals' I do not mind their more commerical 80's period, especially since Ann Wilson has got one of the greatest voices in rock, but that album is aimed at top 40 radio of its day, and of course it worked since it sold millions.

Same could be said of their 1985 self-titled album. It was the first album where they jumped head long into synth/keyboard pop. Still, I grew up with that record, so it holds a bit of nostalgic charm for me. Best songs "Shell Shock", "The Wolf" and Nancy Wilson's "These Dreams".

Very true but like you I grew up with the self titled album so it holds alot of nostalgic charm for me and I feel that songs are better but that maybe more nostalgic wish thinking on my part than reality.
Pretty good. I own this and one of their '80s album. They had some good songs (even from their commercial rock/pop years) but I've never been all that interested in their albums.
I heard their new song "WTF" on MySpace. It's pretty good. It's off some EP they just released.
I love a lot of their songs but only have a greatest hits. I might have to dig deeper.

Magazine and Private Audition are really the only albums by them that I find "iffy".

Is that the one with City's Burning on it? That was the first song that I ever heard from them via MTV... It's a favorite of mine.

I love Heart. Their first few records are classic, and even "Bad Animals" had a couple good songs.

I loved them during their '80's stint. The live album was great!

I noticed a while back that you didnt have any Heart in your NLTM site and I thought what a pity that was. But now you've stepped up to the plate and that is cool, bro.
I grew up as a kid listening to their first 4 albums, my sisters were rockers when they were teens back in the mid 70's. Dreamboat Annie, Magazine, Little Queen, and Dog & Butterfly were all permanently filed in my brain as a kid. I later got Passionworks and Private Audition when I was a teenager. Didnt really like the 80's pop stuff like the S/T and Bad Animals when they were popular but now I can appreciate it for what it is now.
Ann Wilson is maybe my favorite female vocalist of all time. It sounds really ghey but when I hear a Heart song, I hafta sing along with it, my wife and kids think I'm wierd.....

My family thinks it's weird if I don't sing along to music. Heart is a good one though cause you can get in some good air guitar while you're singing along.

So many bands, so little money. I will be adding a bunch of Heart in the coming months thanks to Vexor6.

I'm also partial to the "Dog and Butterfly" album. The title track and "Mistral Wind" are among my favorite tunes in the classic rock world. I love all of their 70s output though. I lost interest when they took a more pop direction in the 80s.

Heart stumbled upon a great thing, essentially taking the Zeppelin blueprint (listen to Little Queen, it's a Zeppelin album by Heart)...and adding in the possibilities of female vocals to the mix. After all, Plant was much easier to copy by a female vocalist than a male vocalist.
Now, they were never a "rip off" of Zep and of all the groups that tried to copy the Zeppelin thing...Heart probably came closer than just about anyone. They took that base blueprint and created their own identity, already fully in place by the debut album.
some "Zep-heavy" tracks from the catalog:
Sing Child, Barracuda, Sylvan Song/Dream Of The Archer, Cook With Fire, Straight On, etc.
Still my favorite band from Seattle. (not counting Hendrix)

As a kid there was a local DJ who would always play 70's Heart on his show. So that was my introduction to them. 80's Heart was okay but I always remained partial (and nostalgic) for the earlier stuff. Dreamboat Annie and Dog & Butterfly would be my favorites.
I also have to state my love for their side project The Lovemongers.

I just thought about something funny (to me) the other day...
I think it's funny that Heart got all up in arms over Sarah Palin using "Barracuda" but have no problem with "What About Love" being used to sell mops.

All a political candidate has to do is play a radio station while campaigning over a PA and then "call" station and request a particular song

favourite is Bebe Lestrange
don't own many albums by them but like them all Dreamboat Annie Magazine Dog and Butterfly
for some reason, can't find my copy of Little Queen right now, hope it is just misplaced.
Loved the video hits they started pumping out, like What About Love?... just don't remember having those late 1980s albums, maybe on cassette ... probably sold them to buy more thrash metal.
