I kind of lost track of blind guardian a couple of years ago. The only albums i still listen to are follow the blind and battalions of fear.

Blind Guardian has done no wrongs in my book. I like each of their album for one reason or another. ATINT took a while to grow on me, but it finally clicked and I really enjoy that album. My first taste of BG was NIME. Monster epic album right there. I feel that a lot of people think that one can never be topped, but I feel they've still got it. Can't wait for the new one!

outside of their awful cover songs, I would agree with the above.

I actually really dig those covers!
Ok, anyone who doesn't care for A Twist in the Myth... Go listen to "Turn the Page" and tell me that's not a GREAT song. I've been listening to this album all morning. Awesome!

One of my favourite bands. Top 5 definitely. Imaginations is just about my favourite album of all time. At least up there, tied with Savatage and the Wake of Magellan.
I saw August 4th as the European release date.

Since both BG and Rhapsody are now on Nuclear Blast and have new ones coming out this year, I shall demand a North American 'Bards & Dragons' tour, in which each venue shall have the ceilings dissolve from the majestic amount of nerdiness contained within.

Count me in! Two of my favorite bands I have yet to see live.
It's not bad, but it's not bad in the same way that 'Another Stranger Me' wasn't bad, to where it's kind of decent but you know it isn't one of the best things on the album.
Sounds much more like earlier Blind Guardian which can only be a good thing. I actually loved A Twist In The Myth, but it's good to see they can still be vaguely heavy.
I loved that album too and don't see the big deal about it, being bad or whatnot. I like the sound of this too, but I can recognize that this song is actually by and large a lot of how the last album was put together, the mix is just different. I just need to hear a few more before I get the album.
'ANATO' suffered more from awkward songwriting than anything IMO. On the follow-up, they were able to incorporate some new colors and ideas that just WORKED, on 'ANATO', there were a lot of melodic ideas that came off as awkward, some of Hansi's vocals were half baked, and while the production tried to be huge, it cut out all the dynamics, it's like listening to a straight line ____________________________ just a really kind of loud and busy straight line. There are so many vocal tracks but with so little variance a lot of the time, that it ends up sounding really odd. 'ATITM' has a big production and a lot of tracks, but not as many, and the MultiHansi is more under control. I think BG needed to do something to get a little bit away from the big fantasy and medieval feel which would probably sound really, really stuffy if they kept trying to evolve on it past 'NIME', before revisiting such themes.
Also it's funny that this thread has 2 pages and the Labyrinth one has barely 1 even though those songs are far more stripped down and full of guitars. Eh.

Labyrinth pushes me away with the vocals, not sure why just not my thing. While it seems no matter how many layers Hansi adds I still like it. And I like about half of ANATO a lot.
