Nah, that's exactly what they want to happen. Any violence against 'em -> lawsuits -> more money for WBC -> more pickets. I remember reading the majority of their budget comes from lawsuits.

| These people are insane. God doesnt hate "fags", he hates sin. These people are using their own prejudice and warping it into Biblical standards with a twist.
Going around picketing soldiers funerals because the soldier died but was a homosexual is not what God wants. He loves everyone despite race religion or belief, he only hates Sin!
Picketting RJD's memorial, because he was credited as creating the Devil Horns (which if anyone knows he doesnt take credit for, and his story was his grandmother did it to him when he was a kid meaning "dont act up".) Plus RJD was mildly vocal about being Atheist or Agnostic, due to his own convictions in his upbring........again doesnt have anything to do with God hating him.
These people need to remove themselves from the "foundation" of religion as the reason why they do this. This is not what God wants. This is no different then extremist Muslims who kill for "God". They twist and stain a denomination because of becoming zealots, and misinterpretations on the Word.
I do hope they get what is coming for them. IDIOTS! I just dont understand where they come off! Let people mourn as they should be allowed.

| I saw a documentary on the Phelps clan/WBC on TV a few years back and after only a few minutes, it made me want to reach into the TV screen and strangle each and every one of 'em. They're not a "church," they're not even a "cult," they're a hate group. Plain and simple. I do wonder what made ole Reverend Fred decide to zero in on "f.a.g.s." as the focus of his crusade, though. Did he have a run-in with the neighborhood Uncle Touchie as a child? Or is he overcompensating BIG time to cover up some inner feelings of his own, if ya knum'sayin'? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

yes. People use whatever they can - religion, music, environmentalism, race, politics, etc - to hide the fact that they hate people. Strip away all the religious talk and trimmings and this group is about nothing but hate. I say ignore them and let them stew. _________________

| No matter what this people do or say the fact is A) They do not represent Christ or Christianity or stand on Biblical principle b) Ronnie James Dio's music has secured his place in Rock History, even Rolling Stone and the New York Times, not exactly supporters of metal in general wrote long tributes to Dio. Finally no one, not me, not them and not even his wife really knows or knew what layed in Dio's heart. | |

Say what?!? Did I miss something? Where did you hear that? EDIT: Nevermind. I just re-read the flyer. I don't know how I missed that little tid-bit. 'Filthy Porn Star" usually gets my attention. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. EDIT: Nevermind. I just re-read the flyer. I don't know how I missed that little tid-bit. 'Filthy Porn Star" usually gets my attention. Hmmmm, I'm calling 'shenanigans' on that claim. I googled the phrase "is Gen Padova related to ronnie james dio" and aside from one tiny mention on IMDB, the only other souces that make that make that claim come from quotes of that Fred Phelps flyer. Yes, the last names are similiar (Padova/Padavona), but I'm not seeing any real proof. These guys wouldn't perpetrate a lie just to smear someone and futher their cause, would they? Doesn't seem very Christian to me. But who am I to judge? I've just spent the last 20 minutes googling images of a porn star. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. From what I understand 'f.a.g.' is not used by them as homosexual - it can be anyone not in their church - they refer to everyone in the US Army as the 'f.a.g. army'..... |

| Right, they protest the funerals of soldiers who have died at war, especially if it's a high profile funeral where they can get a lot of exposure. Unfortunately the media gives it to them. It's not a matter of whether the solider is homosexual or not. They are genuine nutcases. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

Eastern Christianity is not a denomination by definition, but it is true there are some weird groups outside the church (like the apocalyptic Russian one recently which was condemned by the whole church). What I was trying to get at was that Protestantism by its own ethos and mode of thinking has allowed for groups like these to exist and not be checked by any authority because there are thousands of denominations with varying points of view on their own brand of Christianity which I feel has lost the true message of Christ, which is Love, love for God and love for neighbor. It's not about feeling good, being entertained, or wishing ill on those you perceive to be evil.

That has nothing to do with it. According to them, the reason for everything bad that's happening in America (the crash in our economy, soldiers being killed in the war, 9/11, etc.) is because God is punishing America for its tolerance of homosexuals. ...uhhhh, yeah. OK. That makes sense. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

...uhhhh, yeah. OK. That makes sense. Which again says something about the Rev. Methinks he doth protest too much. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I donot understand their obsession with homosexuals and what does that to do with Ronnie James Dio, Black Sabbath, heavy metal anyway? Why would you picket at someone's funeral? If you really thought Dio was evil, would n't it have made more sense to have picketed a Black Sabbath/Dio concert when he was alive? | |
