| recently listened to this album and was BLOWN away how good it was. Ultmetal I reckon you should update your review on this disc. I reckon this album is the best album after Pyromania. Also when were the tracks recorded I'm sure "miss you in a heartbeat" is a recent recording along with "two steps behind" were recent | |

| I bought this used last month but haven't spun it yet. I heard it for the first time two or three years ago though and remember liking it. | |

| First off, Hysteria is the best album ever. Secondly, Retro Active is awesome. It contains "Fractured Love," which is in my top 5 favorite Lep tunes.
But don't request Ult change his review. He only has enough room in his heart for one rock band gone pop. =P

| It is a good album by them - better than many of their releases (not the first three though) | |

| It's not the best Lep album since Pyromania, but it is real good.
Some of the songs are not as good as the original versions with their different arrangements like "Ring Of Fire", "I Wanna Be Your Hero" & "Action", while others are improved like "Two Steps Behind" and "Miss You In A Heartbeat".
"Desert Song" and "Fractured Love" are absolute monster tracks.

But don't request Ult change his review. He only has enough room in his heart for one rock band gone pop. =P Hysteria would of been better if it had a slightly rawer production but hey what matters more the songs are really good on Hysteria but the best song (Fractured Love) on Retroactive is a tad better than the best song (Animal) on Hysteria IMO fair enough it's just he (ultmetal) could extend the review a bit that's all.

| It's a touch redundant, what with 3 versions of 1 song and 2 versions of another, BUT it's a great release nonetheless. I echo those views that "Fractured Love" and "Desert Song" are great tunes! Their remake of "Action" is also fantastic. I still have a soft place in my heart for "On Through the Night", but this CD, for a compilation of extra tracks, is a darn good collection of songs. | |

| This is a review i did for RETROACTIVE some time ago: RADIO ACTIVE from 1993 was the last good release by DEF LEPPARD in my opinion (okay, YEAH was not bad but that was a album with only cover songs). From here they went downhills, not only their music but aswell in popularity. They started loosing many fans with their next release SLANG and never won them back. Anyway, all songs on this cd were pieced together over a ten year period and i like them all but one. The record take off with the dark and heavy DESERT SONG that was composed as well during the HYSTERIA days. A very good classy song. FRACTURED LOVE was written during the HYSTERIA sessions and it sound like that era.
Also on this cd you will find the last big DEF LEPPARD hits like TWO STEPS BEHIND and MISS YOU IN A HEARRBEAT *both in acoustic and normal versions*. The cover song ACTION, originaly by THE SWEET was a little hit too. I remember watching over and over on tv video clips by this songs back in the day. RIDE INTO THE SUN was originaly the very first song released on a vinyl by the band and here you can find the rerecorded version during the HYSTERIA sessions. The sound of this song is just late 80s DL. SHE'S TOO TOUCH was originaly on a HELIX album (WILD IN THE STREETS, by the way, a great lp). Nice to hear DEF LEPPARD playing this song. ONE AFTER DARK is a pop song that i dont care much about, its a cover song. FROM THE INSIDE is a cool ballad that had some fame back in 1993 too. From the ADRENALIZE sessions. RING ON FIRE is a fast and catch song done for a b/side single back in the HYSTERIA days, and I WANNA BE YOUR HERO should have been an other hit. Great great uptempo track, one of my fave. Anyway, great compilation of rare and old rerecorded stuff and like i said before, last realy good thing done by this band IMO.

| Okay, if you were going to buy the Japanese edition of this album, which one would you go with, the....
New: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001EB5AY0/ref=sr_1_cc_3_olp?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1353083194&sr=1-3-catcorr&keywords=def+leppard+retro+active&condition=new
...or the used, which is a VERY GOOD USED disc: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001EB5AY0/ref=sr_1_cc_3_olp?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1353083194&sr=1-3-catcorr&keywords=def+leppard+retro+active&condition=used
I love the price that they came up with for the used, not just because it's outlandish, but due to the fact that they actually felt compelled to tack on another $24.34 on something that would be the equivalent of a huge mortgage payment for some. I can see the guys in the Japanese record store arguing. "No, we charge extra thirty four cent, and no wave a shipping either on this"!

| My old roommate spun this album to death, so that's probably why I'll always have a place for it in my collection. As far as latter day Lep goes, it's a pretty good one. I need to give it a fresh spin one of these days. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.
