I picked up a copy of Classic Rock about a month ago. It's a great rag just a little pricey.
Anyway they had an article on albums from 1980, which just got me thinking what is my favorite album from 1980.... there are so many to choose from.
I went with AC/DC - Back in Black as it was my initiation into the Metal Fraternity.... how bout you? make a choice don't wimp out....

Classic Rock's great. As for my favourite album, it would be Wheels of Steel. I enjoy more songs that album than I do on any of the others.

I choose 'Back In Black' because it is an incredible album and the band came back from a tragedy in an incredible manner. Losing a frontman like Bon Scott on a professional level is diffcult enough, but managing to pick the perfect frontman like Brian Johnson who was not a Bon clone and create 'Back In Black' a landmark album in the wake of such a loss is why this album got my vote.

I personally believe that Bon Scott had more to do with the creation of the Back in Black album than Brian Johnson. Listen to songs written afterwards and the ones done before Bon's death and see which ones are more similar. Bon died Feb.19th 1980. Back In Black was released in August. I find it difficult to believe they went from dead singer to looking for new vocalist, finding new vocalist, finish writing songs, recording songs, mixing / mastering album and being done with it all in 6 months.
It is a great album.
