Iron Maiden vs. Judas Priest

Having seen both Halford and Bruce recently, I would have to go with Bruce to win. He is in much better shape and his voice has held up much better!!!

While Halford still sounds AWESOME, he is just doesn't seem to be in the best shape on stage these days and often looks like he has a turtle head poking out while he sings

I too would go with Dickinson, he seems to have a lot more control of his voice and I enjoy listening to him more than Halford, who is still a great singer, even at his advanced age.

Maiden.

While Maiden is more consistent overall, nothing matches Priest's run of albums from Sad Wings of Destiny thru Screaming for Vengeance.

I just flashed back to countless arguments I've had with friends starting at about age 13.

Iron Maiden is my pick. Judas Priest follows closely behind.

Yeah, my brother and I have been having this argument since about 1983. I don't think either one of us will ever change our minds.

I argue myself over who's better, sometimes... I'm leaning toward Judas Priest nowadays, but that could easily be due to the crazy amount of Iron Maiden overplay I've subjected myself to over the years.

And even then, it's only been like 7 or 8 years since I started listening to metal (with Maiden being one of the firsts). Some of you guys've got decades on me, haha.

Why not?

Both are awesome bands with incredible back catalogues. The biggest difference between these bands is that Maiden kind of keeps doing the same thing over and over. They have their sound and they won't stray from it. They know their fans and they stay true no matter what. Admirable.

Priest on the other hand goes all over the place. It gives a more bumpy ride if you listen to their whole discography, but a much more interesting one. They've gone to places Maiden never would have.

Maiden lyrics are more cerebral. And frankly, just better. But I'll take music over lyrics and pick Priest just because they are more interesting.

EDIT: and in fact, this is an old poll I've already voted in.

And I already voted for Maiden! I have travelled to see Priest too (only once though!)

So just for clarification should I start posting polls here instead?

When I was getting into metal I'd picdk Priest any day. They grabbed me from the get go. Now, over time I don't feel any desire to listen to JP asdide from select songs on rare occasions. Maiden on the other hand  keep getting better with each listen, revealing something new everytime you reach for their albums. They work as growers, which in the long run always happen to be more enjoyable to listen to.
