Blindstone - Oh Yeah!!!! funky rock/blues... I LOVE this stuff. Definite Buy!!! Two thumbs up!!
The reason I put these guys up here was because I just got done listening to a bunch of tracks off of their newest release Rise Above. I think they really hit their peek on Rise Above. These were the only clips I could find and they are pretty rad as well. Would I buy it maybe, would I buy Rise Above? Def...

I saw him in Memphis when I lived about 70 miles from there.
Great show. He was the opening act for Rock City Angels and I thought he blew them away.

Pass on Blindstone.
I'm not very into funk though.
The closest I get to liking that is King's X.

I like Shakra but to me they're a second-rate Gotthard.
I like the style but their songwriting just lacks IMO. There's also something in the execution that I find lacking. Gotthard writes basically the same kind of music but somehow they seem more sincere. Shakra sounds like they're just going through the motions to me.

Not familiar with Shakra.
But wow. I have to admit I like this.
Like Gotthard yes, but good.

The title of this thread is "Would you buy this?"
I'd heard a lot of previous Shakra songs but I finally bought their latest one.
And that will probably be my last one. It's not bad, just very "by the numbers" IMO.
For my money Gotthard owns this band.

I'd buy this. I'd buy Gotthard too though.
Don't have anything by either band.
I'd also buy Wig Wam, but have nothing yet.

Never heard this band before today and I must say I enjoy it very much. Sometimes like TOHO said its too by the numbers and safe. I would like a little more aggression in his vocals as well. He seems scared and too wimpy for my likings. I love the melodies as well and YES I WOULD BUY THIS...

I like Gotthard and Wig Wam more than this band.
Again, it's not that Shakra is bad it's just that they seem to be going through the motions to me.

I like a lot of Gotthards stuff but its not a genre I seek out for. I like a lot more aggression and distortion in my hard rock. I just sometimes wish these vocalists didnt sound so wimpy. I need that rasp but thats me being picky. Also the production makes these bands sound soft when really they arent. These bands are meant to be heard live.

I don't have that problem with these bands but I understand your point of view.
That's how I got into the glam/sleaze genre; the music is basically the same but he vocals have more of a punk edge to them. Bands like Hardcore Superstar, Gemini Five, Backyard Babies, The Last Vegas, etc are basically writing melodic hard rock songs but the vocals have more "edge" to them.

Yes i agree and I think thats whats missing from a lot of these hard rock bands. Doesnt mean its not good because it is.

Check out early Gotthard because their style was edgier at the beginning.

I actually have the S/t and Dial Hard on my comp and its pretty sweet. I havent listened in forever but I do remember it being a lot harder. Good band indeed.
What loses me is why these bands tend to get softer and lose their grit. Commercialism does not always lead to success.

I'm surprised you don't have Gotthard, MB. You'll like them.

I know. They are one of the bands 'on my list'. I can't get everything I want all the time. Some things have to wait. Sucks though.
But I guess it's part of the fun. Waiting makes it more enjoyable once you get something.
Seriously, if I bought everything I wanted all the time, I'd have a CD budget of thousands of dollars each week. I'm into multiple genres, which only makes matters worse and more expensive.
I have a decent enough CD allowance as it is. I can't blame my wife for putting a lid on the spending.
