Really looking forward to the new album with the return of Jorn. DiMeo is a great singer as well and liked MKII, but seems he wasn't the greatest of fits for them.
The s/t is a classic Melodic/Power Metal album. I played the heck out of that when it came out to the point that I couldn't listen to it any longer. I pull it out every several months and it reminds me of how great it is. "Soulburn" is a monster song as is the duet with Michael Kiske. The second was awesome too, perhaps going even less power and more melodic in style.
I agree 100% and welcome LH!

The new single is great, albeit too short!!! The title track is awesome and "Lonely Winds Of War" is great too. Not sure why Lande takes creedit for the melody though, as he clearly ripped off "Prince Igor", and here is the version (with a Norwegian female singer) that he probably heard a lot of times:

The CD is also overtly compressed and that ruins the sound quite a bit!

I am really liking time to be King a lot. They really managed to recapture the greatness of the first album.

It's a bit samey in the vocal-melody compartment, but otherwise this is a stellar release!

Usually their albums will catch on with me almost right away. This one has taken me a while, and I'm still not sure what I think about it. I like it but then think it could have been so much better.

I should love these guys, I love this brand of power metal but something seems missing. Other then Allen/Lande I find this with all the Jorn stuff.

Hahaha No its not that I'm getting old. If anything I'm liking harder and faster music more now than I did when I was younger. Its just Jorn is one of my top favorite singers, Roland is an awesome guitar player and of course he was in Helloween so thats just another reason why I look for his releases to be good, and Mike Terrana another drummer is I like very much. I just think with Jorn back it should have been just as good if not better than their debut but its just kind of ended up being a little weak. No fast songs everythings just sort of in the middle where as the previous albums there was some different styles. I also don't feel the chorus' are as strong. I'll even go as far as liking MKII a little bit more than this new one.

It is funny you posted that because I am going the other direction where melody is king. MKII for me was a little flat. This album is much stronger. I am continually amazed at how people hear different things on the same release.

Hahaha. I feel the same way, but I guess everyone just takes in music differently. In one case I have a friend who likes Metal, but is like me and he likes some rock and other stuff too but he'll hear a band I like and ask me repeatedly why I would like it because he thinks its bad. He doesn't understand bands like Dimmu Borgir or Sonata Arctica, to name a few. It just gets down to everyone hears music differently, and yes it is wierd haha.
I don't totally dislike the new Masterplan it just didn't hit me like earlier releases. This one might have to grow on me. A few months from now I could say this is their best cd, so far though its not looking that way. Its also my mood too, I could just be burnt out.

I've been feeling more or less the same way.
Masterplan and Aeronautics blew me away on the first listen. Those both are must-have Deserted Island CDs for me. The sound is so warm and golden on both of them. Everything's perfect.
This one...I'd probably think was really top-knotch if the first two didn't exist. I guess the bar was set so high. After 4 listens I'd say the new one is good, but not very good. Certainly not classic like the first two are.

Been listening more...it's growing. I don't think it will ever be up there with the first two, but it's not bad at all.
