He's probably trying to say others are more technical.

I'm thinking with today's technology (not just guitars and amps, but with recording techniques) Hendrix would have dominated everyone just the same. Even with those old recordings, recorded practically live, he ruled. In fact, his live shows are the BEST showcases of his abilities.

Damn, he was playing music no-one did before, with a guitar meant to be played the other way around. Given the proper tools, you don't know what he would have done.

ANYWAY, Hendrix is not in my top ten or twenty or whatever, but that's not because of his playing, it's because a lot of the guitarists after him mastered the great guitar sound. That means I prefer hearing them play their songs, but it doesn't mean they could have done what they do without Hendrix doing what he did.

Well, I finally settled on one: me. I am without a doubt the greatest guitar player who has ever lived. My trademark use of 11-finger tapping, playing every scale ever invented at the same time, and chords that haven't even been invented yet make me the obvious choice for this title. I am a virtuoso in all aspects, having advanced degrees in jazz, rock, blues, folk, country, polka, and disco. I taught Eddie Van Halen how to tap and I taught Yngwie Malmsteen how to sweep. Vito Bratta didn't stop playing guitar because of a hand injury, he just realized he could never be as good as I am. Kurt Cobain's suicide? He attempted one of my solos. If there is one guitarist who has influenced everybody and revolutionized the way we all look at guitar, it's me. I am by far the greatest guitarist in all the land.
