John Sykes was around in the 50's? That good stuff. Can't believe Comedy Central has not pounded down your door with offer for your own show!! |

| 1: Dave Murray (Iron Maiden) 2: Chuck Schuldiner (Death/Control Denied) 3: Pepper Keenan (COC/Down) 4: Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) 5: James Hetfield (Metallica)
Special mention: Woody Weatherman. That guy has some of the best vibrato going and his solos are as memorable as the riffs. He's immense.
I mainly prefer excellent rhythm players and awesome riff writers more than guys who can just shred their tits off and play stupidly fast.

I like people who can do both too. Dime, Zakky Wylde, Criss Oliva, Glenn Tipton, Adrian Smith, Ted Nugent. I just prefer very good rhythm players who can throw in a nice bluesy solo to top it all off. I think that's why I prefer southern and stoner stuff more.

None? Countless guitarists make him look like an amateur. That is absolute bullsh!t, if you don't like Hendrix or think he is overrated, fine everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to say others make him sound like amateur, come on!

He's probably trying to say others are more technical. I don't think that Hendrix was overrated because he was a good songwriter that pushed the boundaries of rock with his innovative approach to the guitar.

TZ I am sure you are right, I guess when it comes to Hendrix I rise to his defense and overact at the smallest slight, to use ToB's favorite phrase, I would consider Hendrix rock's musical scared cow.

I can see that... he was around for such a short period but influenced countless musicians. Same with Randy Rhoads or if EVH died after the Fair Warning album. He went out on top as an innovator.
