That record was pretty much doomed from the git-go. The band really weren't into it anymore, the only label that would give it the time of day was Joan Jett's label (Blackheart Records), which had crappy-at-best distribution at the time, and then they went and slapped that monstrosity on the cover. Ugh.

The Dark is their best. You cannot get past it easily.

That's the only Metal Church album I own and I didn't care for it, so I never bothered getting anything else.

I agree. It's a total masterpiece of the highest order. 10/10. No question.

They really set the bar high for themselves with that album.

however, the momentum of excellence was still alive with the first Mike Howe album. If David Wayne had sung on "Blessing in Disguise", it may have beat it out. It would probably have been their best. As it stands - I give "Blessing in Disguise" a strong 9.5.

The "S/T" is good too, but it doesn't touch either of those two albums.

Really the only Metal Church albums I really like are the first 3. I keep the others in my collection, but hardly ever spin them.
