Great song that inspired me to buy the album... which isn't so good, IMO.

I loved Copperhead Road. It was head an shoulders above Guitar Town and nothing he has done since compares IMO. I really liked Towns though, but I think he was pretty high during the recording sessions. At least Towns sounds that way.
This is one of the few things I share in common with my dad. We would go hunting or on some vacation trip somewhere and we would ALWAYS play Copperhead Road. What's not to like about that album?

wow, I loved Guitar Town, Exit-O, Copperhead Road, The Hard Way and even the very first recordings Early Tracks which was really really twangy.
He kept changing after that, and finally I lost interest around 1997.
PS> There is a rough mix of the Copperhead album floating around, but it doesn't sound to different too me, just grittier.

Copperhead Road is a good album for sure but I prefer everything from I Feel Alright to now the best.

He's supposed to be clean and sober now but who knows? I think he was trying to get a classic, analog feel to the sound.
