This is bizarre.
Anyone ever know Joe says "suck it" during the solo? Haha. You can barely hear it on the studio version, but it's there. And according to the comments, the backward lines say "Assh*le" and "F*ck the Russians." That is just weird. Haha.

This just confirms my belief that this album was the beginning of the end of a once-great hard rock band. Studio tricks totally undermined Def Leppard IMO and this album was apparently the beginning of it.

What kind of studio tricks are we talking about?

It still sucks. I've grown to like Def Leppard, both rock songs and pop songs, but this one still grates on me.

Yeah, I really don't hear any studio tricks apart from the standard of chorus vocals. It's always weird hearing the vocals without any backing, like that version of 'Running With The Devil' that leaked a while back. Joe Elliot certainly benefits from having loud guitars behind him, though.

Oh, he's never been a great singer. He does what he can and it works, but he's no Dickinson or Tate, you know. Hell, he's no Bon Jovi.

Yeah, I agree. Still it works for the band. It's probably no surprise my favourite Leps album is Hysteria though, where the vocals are so polished and multi-layered that it's hard to tell it's even Jelliot ;P

I didn't think Elliot sounded that bad, a little weird but still very cool.

I agree. I actually am a pretty big fan of Def Leppard. My favorite album is "Hysteria", but "Pyromania" is a close second.
